Good Morning Primary 6!!
I hope we are all up and ready to learn.
Please start today by saying our morning prayer. You may also wish to ask God to look after anyone who is unwell at this time.
Scroll down to find some tasks for today.
Literacy
Task 1:
Today we are going to continue with our revision on using apostrophes.
Click the link below to access the worksheet. You do not need to print this, you can just write the answers in your jotter.
Task 2:
Yesterday we were revising different spelling strategies and discussing how to use each one. Can you create a poster to show which each of the strategies are? You might want to use words as an example to show how each of them can be used. Select any tricky words you wish. You will find a list of the strategies below to remind you what they are.
Spelling Strategies:
-Syllabication
-Word in a Word
-Compound Word
-Phonics Knowledge
-Analogy
-Mnemonic
Task 3:
Think about our class novel.
Yesterday we read the chapter where Jack Will realised why August was mad.
Can you write a short paragraph to predict what you think might happen between August and Jack Will? Do you think they will sort out their differences and become friends again?
Maths
Click the link to access some starter questions. You can choose between green and yellow. Try to give yourself a challenge.
Now click the link for your group. This will give you a task continuing on from yesterday’s lesson. Remember the Pyramids and Cones have been working together this week.
When you have completed your Literacy and Numeracy work for today you will find some extra tasks on the October home working grid. I will post this on a separate post.
If you can, take some pictures of your work and send them to me. I will be available all day to answer any questions you may have so please send me an email if you need me. Find my email address below.

I hope you and your family had a lovely relaxing September weekend.
This week your child has been set tasks for Tuesday and Wednesday night. The accompanying worksheets will be sent home in the clear plastic zippy wallet on Tuesday night. I would really appreciate if this wallet could be returned to school empty in your child’s school bag on Thursday along with your child’s reading book.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope you and your family had a lovely relaxing September weekend.
This week your child has been set tasks for Tuesday and Wednesday night. The accompanying worksheets will be sent home in the clear plastic zippy wallet on Tuesday night. I would really appreciate if this wallet could be returned to school empty in your child’s school bag on Wednesday. Please return your child’s reading book to school on Thursday.
This week in Literacy is a consolidation week which means that the children will not learn any new sounds or common words. During this week your child will spend time revising their letter formation, sounds and common words taught over the last three weeks.
Could you please encourage your child to practise their reading book each night.
We have learned all of these letter sounds-a, t, s, p, i, n
1. Listen to the Jolly Phonics song for each letter sound. Sing each song whilst doing the action. Practise saying each sound correctly.
We are learning to recognise and write the number 9 this week.
Number 9 formation rhyme– ‘Make an oval and a line. Now I’ve made the number nine.’
Encourage your child to recite the rhyme to you and then practise their number formation.
Complete number 9 formation worksheet.
We have learned all of these common words- a, at, the, I, in, it, an, is, and
1.Use your word tin to practise all of your common words. When you look at each word, read the word and then spell it out loud.
Pasta Words– Arrange pasta or cereal to make your words. Glue onto a piece of paper or take a picture.
Chalk-Â Write your common words outside on the ground using chalk.
Foamy Words– Spray a small amount of shaving foam and spread it out. Practise writing your words in the foam.
This week I would like your child to log onto Sumdog and play some games. This will be their first time logging into their account. I have provided each child with their login details and it would be good if you could store these details in a safe place. These details can be found inside the clear plastic zippy wallet.
Sumdog is a fantastic website which allows children to practise their maths skills through different games, which then become tailored to their ability following the answers they provide.
Thank you for all of the wonderful pictures that were sent in last week. It is great to see lots of the fabulous work you are doing at home. Remember, if you are really proud of your homework you can scan or take a picture of your wonderful work and send it to my email or tweet me a picture @St_BarbarasPS.
Thank you for your continued support. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
