Primary 1 Homework Week Beginning 29th September

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope you and your family had a lovely relaxing September weekend.

This week your child has been set tasks for Tuesday and Wednesday night. The accompanying worksheets will be sent home in the clear plastic zippy wallet on Tuesday night. I would really appreciate if this wallet could be returned to school empty in your child’s school bag on Wednesday. Please return your child’s reading book to school on Thursday.

This week in Literacy is a consolidation week which means that the children will not learn any new sounds or common words. During this week your child will spend time revising their letter formation, sounds and common words taught over the last three weeks.

Could you please encourage your child to practise their reading book each night.

Tuesday

We have learned all of these letter sounds-a, t, s, p, i, n

1. Listen to the Jolly Phonics song for each letter sound. Sing each song whilst doing the action. Practise saying each sound correctly.

We are learning to recognise and write the number 9 this week.

Number 9 formation rhyme– ‘Make an oval and a line. Now I’ve made the number nine.’

Encourage your child to recite the rhyme to you and then practise their number formation.

Complete number 9 formation worksheet.

Maths

Sumdog Tables Holiday Challenge - Sumdog

This week I would like your child to log onto Sumdog and play some games. This will be their first time logging into their account. I have provided each child with their login details and it would be good if you could store these details in a safe place. These details can be found inside the clear plastic zippy wallet.

Sumdog is a fantastic website which allows children to practise their maths skills through different games, which then become tailored to their ability following the answers they provide.

Thank you for all of the wonderful pictures that were sent in last week. It is great to see lots of the fabulous work you are doing at home. Remember, if you are really proud of your homework you can scan or take a picture of your wonderful work and send it to my email or tweet me a picture @St_BarbarasPS.

Thank you for  your continued support. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
