Monday 14th March 2016

It was lovely to have some sunshine today – the children really enjoyed playing outdoors in the warmish sun.

The nursery am children had a bit of an adventure to start their session – the door wouldn’t open and the children had to arrive via the P1 doors.  The fact that not one of the children was phased by this change to their routine just shows how confident and comfortable the children are at nursery.  Thank you to everyone for their patience today.  Thankfully, the issue was resolved for pick up time.

Our brand new tracksuit tops arrived today – they look wonderful.  Thank you so much to the two companies who purchased them for us.  Tomorrow, two children will be debuting them at the NLC Cross Country Finals.  Good Luck to both of them!

The children in P3 and P4/5 have been busy rehearsing ‘The Donkey’s Tale’ for the Easter Assembly next week.  The children were rehearsing this afternoon and sounded wonderful.  You are in for a real treat if you are able to attend at 9.30am next week.

Don’t forget that pupils can enter the decorate an egg competition by bringing their creations in to school next week.  Winners will be announced at the Spring Assembly.

Nursery Halloween Fun

The Nursery boys and girls had lots of fun taking part in various Halloween themed activities. They had fun helping scoop out the inside of a pumpkin and then they carved it. The children dressed up as witches and created their own spells.  On Friday the children came to Nursery in their Halloween costumes, where they had lots of fun making cakes, playing games and dancing, followed with a yummy snack. Some family and friends then came to Nursery to hear the children sing their Halloween songs.

Come and Play Day

The boys and girls in the nursery had great fun on Thursday when their parents and carers came along to play with them in the nursery.  Our visitors were able to see for themselves the different types of learning experiences on offer daily in the nursery, and also how well the children tidy up the playroom at the end of the session!

We would like to thank our parents/carers for coming along to support us.  We received some positive feedback following the event, and look forward to holding similar events again throughout the year.

Here is some of our feedback:

I enjoyed having an insight into how they learn and being able to see them in this environment.  It was good being shown round by the kids and them showing/pointing out what they do.

I got to see what my child does during her day and I got to see what the teachers do and how well they knew the pupils.

I got to see the activities kids do at the nursery and how they learn.

I am feeling a lot more confident about my child’s progression and learning

It was great to see exactly what the kids do.  Also learned a great tip on how to make play dough!

Nursery Cluster Transition Event

In partnership with our cluster nurseries and primary schools, we are planning to hold an event for parents/carers of all pre-school children who will be starting school next August.  The purpose of this event is to provide parents/carers with information on the transition process, and an opportunity to address any questions you may have about your child starting school.

The event will be held in Calderhead High School on Thursday 22nd October 2015 – please put this date in your diaries!  Times will be confirmed by the end of this week, although the sessions will run while your child is at nursery.

Further information will be sent home in due course.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Come and Play at Stane Nursery!

On Thursday 8th October we would like to invite the parents and carers of all our nursery children, to come along and see for yourselves what we get up to at nursery!

This ‘Come and Play’ session will give you the opportunity to play alongside your child in the nursery, speak to staff, and find out more about the different learning opportunities offered daily.

Parents and carers with children in the morning session are invited to join us from 10.45am until 11.55am, and parents/carers with children in the afternoon session from 2.45pm until 3.55pm.  All children should attend the full session as normal.

An invitation to this event will be sent home with your child on Monday, please return the tear off slip to confirm your attendance.  Due to space constraints within the playroom, we are only able to allow one adult to attend per child.

We look forward to seeing you there!
