Primary 1/2 has been learning to write instructions as part of their weekly taught writing lessons. So far the children have written instructions to tell others how to: brush their teeth, make cereal and make Empire Biscuits. The children have been benefitting from carrying out the tasks before writing the instructions and the lessons involving food have proved to be very popular.

Forces: Push and Pull
Primary 1/2 has finished their Science work investigating Senses and are now enjoying learning about Forces. The children were introduced to the Force of Push and Pull and thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with a variety of toys to see which toys required a push force or a pull force to create movement.
P.1/2 Health
The boys and girls from Primary 1/2 continued learning about Health and Wellbeing this afternoon. The children have been learning about the different type of teeth we have and what they are used for. We have also been looking at the variety of different ways to look after our teeth, such as brushing, visiting the dentist, eating less sweets and drinking water inbetween meals. The children really enjoyed their activities today, especially when they got the chance to make a mouth using sliced apple and marshmallows. Yum!
P.1/2 Maths
The Triangles started a new Maths concept today. They were learning how to recognise, continue and create patterns. The children enjoyed using different resources to continue patterns and even made some patterns of their own. The children were particularly keen to make their pattern the longest.
The Squares continued their learning of Place Value and were investigating how 2 digit numbers are made using Tens and Units.

P.1/2 Science
Primary 1/2 and Primary 2 have been working together for Science and we have been learning all about Our Senses. Today we were focussing on sight. We learned about the different parts of the eye, from the eyebrow, eye lids and lashes to the pupil, iris and the sclera. We learned about the functions of these and even labelled a diagram. We also had the opportunity to wear visual impairment glasses and try to complete different tasks, such as an assault course and drawing a line through a maze. The last group played different games such as Eye Spy and ‘Where’s Wally?’
Primary 1/2
Primary 1/2 had another busy day again today. We had our first experience of soft start this morning and we attended our first whole school assembly where we learned new songs and about the Golden Rules. After playtime we began learning about the ‘a’ sound and the painting station seemed to be particularly popular one. Before lunch we had just enough time to join P.4/5 at the trim trail. After lunch we took part in our P.E lesson (which will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays).
First Day at Stane Primary
Today the Primary 1 boys and girls had their first day at Stane Primary School and I don’t think they could have been more prepared with their new uniforms, bags, pencil cases and lunch boxes.  P.1/2 had a very busy day touring the school, doing arts and crafts and learning in the open area. There was just enough time for a short story before home time.
