Well Done Third Year!
Our S3 History classes are currently taking part in North Lanarkshire’s Shellshock project to help commemorate World War 1.
The pupils were visited this week by Dave, Gillian and Emma from Summerlee who introduced them to World War One and the idea of Shellshock.
The pupils got the chance to handle artefacts from World War One and learn about the conditions in the Trenches and the effects this had on the mental health of Soldiers during the war.
The pupils are looking forward to working with Cultural NLC over the coming weeks to create artwork commemorating the war.
39 Pupils and 5 staff recently took part in a trip to the Battlefields of WW1 in France and Belgium.
The group visited various battle sites and memorials across France and Belgium embracing and recreating the history. The group even spent a day as WW1 platoon dressing, eating and exercising as they would have during the Great War.
The pupils also enjoyed a day of sight seeing in Paris and a day of Fun in Disneyland.
The pupil’s behaviour, enthusiasm and mature attitude were a credit to St Andrews H.S.
