Class of 2018!

Our P7 ‘Class of 2018’ have been celebrating the end of term in a few special ways!  Take a look at the photos below from our joint P7 Party with our friends at All Saints, as well as from our boys and girls’ recent End of Term Trip – which they funded themselves (with a little help from our Parent Council) through a wonderful Enterprise project, where they held a Fun Day for the whole school!

We will miss you P7! We hope you have just as much fun at High School!

2nd Annual P1 Race for Life

This afternoon, our Primary 1 pupils and their parents and grandparents joined some of our staff to take part in our second annual Race for Life, in aid of Cancer Research UK.  Our P6 Sports Committee lead our children and their family members in a ‘gentle’ warm-up before they ran over 1km, starting in our school grounds and then heading off through the park in Cairnhill before turning and coming back down to the school to charge across the finish line under the watchful eye of the glorious sunshine!

Our children and guests then re-fueled with some juice and biscuits before taking to the podium to collect their hard-earned medals.

With the help of our school community, our boys and girls have helped to raise around £1250 for Cancer Research so far! Thank you so much for your incredible support.

Mr Innes would like to thank the fantastic staff team and wonderful parent helpers for helping to make this event a success.  He’d also like to thank the dedicated parents and grandparents who came along to run with the children and to cheer them on!

Most of all, everyone at Rochsolloch would like to say well done to our amazing P1 pupils! Great job boys and girls!

Celebrating Success

Did you know that we celebrate success at assembly every second Wednesday?

We encourage our pupils to share their achievements from after-school and evening clubs, as well as any special charity events they have been involved in. We also celebrate the success of pupils who have made significant achievements in school!

Just a few of the things we’ve heard about this year are:

  • Football
  • Dancing
  • Gymnastics
  • Boys and Girls Brigade
  • Rainbows
  • Tae-Kwon-Do
  • Karate
  • Judo
  • Running and Athletics
  • Road Safety Competition Winners
  • Charity Fundraising

Whether achievements are made within or out with school, we are always so proud to hear about the successes of our pupils!

School Sports 2018

This morning we had our annual School Sports Day, bathed in glorious sunshine! Mr Griffin and Primary 7 have been working hard over the last few weeks to get everything ready for our young athletes. Our children were split into house teams and they rotated around eight different events:

* relay

* hocket dribble

* rugby run and throw

* netball shoot

* boccia bowls

* basketball

* tennis

* obstacle course

We finished off the event with a fun parents’ race…and our parents weren’t competitive at all!

Our children had a great morning, and were suitably exhausted when they returned to their classes!

Thank you so much to Mr Griffin and P7 for doing such a wonderful job, and to our guests who turned out in such great numbers to support the children. Thank you also for the wonderful feedback given to our staff and pupils after the event!

Catch-up Gallery!

Sometimes there is so much going on here at Rochsolloch Primary that we just can’t find the time to keep you fully updated! Take a look at these photos, which show:

  • Mrs Booth’s lovely retirement assembly
  • The Nursery Easter Bonnet Parade
  • P3/4 and P4 1960’s projects and assembly
  • P1 Daffodil Tea for Marie Curie
  • Our Teddy Bears’ Picnic for our new P1 intake

Cheerio Mrs Ross!

Today we said a sad farewell to Mrs Ross, who is leaving us today!  Our nursery class and school pupils presented poems, songs and thoughtful gifts to Mrs Ross to show her how much all of her hard work at Rochsolloch over the years has been appreciated. Mrs Ross was also presented with a lovely gift from the school pupils and from the staff, as well as with a beautiful bunch of flowers from our Parent Council. Take a look at these emotional scenes!

We love you Mrs Ross, and you shall forever be part of our Rochsolloch family.

Young Authors Book Launch!

Over the past six months, three budding young writers from Primary 7 have been working tirelessly to plan, write, edit and produce their very own books! The tenacious trio thought long and hard about what makes an exceptional book, and tried to re-create the feeling they get when they read for their very own audience.

This morning, to celebrate their hard work, the children hosted their very own book launch in our Rainbow Room. They invited along their friends and family and put on a truly inspirational display. Each of our young authors spoke about the motivation and inspiration behind their book, as well as what they learned from writing their texts, before treating their captive audience to a reading from their favourite chapter.

Finally, the children signed first edition copies of their books for some of our lucky guests to take home. Some extra special audience members were also given souvenir bookmarks and posters to mark the occasion!

Mr Innes would like to congratulate our pupils on their incredible achievement.  Special thanks also to our supportive and encouraging audience of parents and friends, and to Mrs McGowan in our school office for making such an excellent job of preparing our books.

P5 Display of Knowledge

Today, our P5 pupils were joined by their families as they presented a Display of Knowledge! Our children aimed to give their families a snapshot of the learning that has been taking place in the class over the past term!

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to support our children, and for the lovely feedback given to our pupils!

P5 and P5/6 Science Centre Visit!

P5 and P5/6 had an awesome time at the Glasgow Science Centre today!

P5 have been learning about How the World Works, while P5/6 have been learning about Space.

The children visited all three floors of the Science Mall for some hands-on fun, pictured below! The children also went to the Planetarium for an excellent Space presentation – there was so much learning happening!

Let’s not forget that the day was topped off by a trip to the Gift Shop – the most important aspect of any school trip!

'Aim high! Give it your best try!'
