Leavers’ Assembly 2019

This morning our children took to the stage, with excellent musical performances from everyone from Nursery all the way to Primary 7! There was a terrific mix of songs, with every pupil having their chance to shine on stage. Finally, we said an emotional goodbye to our Primary 7 Class of 2019 with some thoughtful words from Mr Hamilton and Mr Wilson.

It’s been a great year for all of our children.

Keep on aiming high!

Shorts and Shades Disco!

Check out these cool kids ready for the sunshine (if we ever get any!).

We’d like to say a huge thanks as always to our wonderful Parent Council for holding yet another fantastic disco and helping to raise money for our school funds!

Sports Day 2019

This morning we headed up to the pitch for our annual school sports day! Unfortunately, the weather cut our morning short, with our pupils managing to get round just half of their eight activities before we had to head back into the school for shelter!

We’ll take the children back out to finish their events whenever we get a dry day so we can crown a winning team!

We’d like to thank all of our parents who took the time to join us this morning, and also Mr Griffin and the P7 Sports Committee for organising our rehearsals and today’s event…we’d also like to apologise for the weather – we haven’t had a washed out sports day in years!

Race for Life 2019

On Friday we held our 3rd annual Race for Life, which this year involved children and families from P1-3, as well as lots of P6 and P7 helpers.

The weather was kind to us and we had a wonderful time running from the school, towards Brownsburn Park and then through the playing fields in Cairnhill before returning to the school to sprint across the finish line!

Thanks to the kindness and support of our school families we have raised over £1,995, including Gift Aid, which is our highest total ever!

Children, staff and families, you are all superstar fundraisers and the money you have raised will help support the excellent work of Cancer Research UK, a cause close to the hearts of many in our school community.

We would finally like to say a huge thank you to our Junior Sports Leaders, Sports Committee, and to Mr Griffin…the Race for Life wouldn’t have been possible with you!

The Sleepy Shepherd

This morning, our P1 children put on a fantastic Nativity performance of The Sleepy Shepherd, supported by their friends in P2 and P3!

Our gym hall was packed full and our little stars did not disappoint, as they acted, sang and danced beautifully, following a month of hard work and rehearsals!

Following an excellent re-telling of the traditional Christmas story from the point of view of one of the shepherds, our P2 and P3 children took to the stage to perform a selection of Christmas crackers, before all of our P1-P3 children joined together for the finale!

We’d like to congratulate our wonderful pupils for being the stars of the show, and thank our magnificent staff team and parent helpers for putting on such a wonderful performance for everyone.

We can’t wait to see it again tonight!

A Wriggly Nativity

Yesterday our Nursery class put on two amazing performances of A Wriggly Nativity, where they told the traditional Christmas story in a way that only the Nursery class could!

Every single one of our little stars had their important part to play in celebrating the arrival of the new baby, and the feedback given by our parents, grandparents and guests was wonderful.

Thank you so  much to everyone who attended and supported our children, to our fabulous Nursery staff team, and to our super older children who provided welcome music for our guests, as well as the narration for the show itself.

You were incredible boys and girls, and we were all so proud of you!

P6 and P6/7 Visit the City of Glasgow!

P6/7 and P6 had a very enjoyable and thought provoking trip to Glasgow. The trip was to visit the setting of our book Divided City and examine sectarianism in Glasgow. We attended a workshop run by St Mungo’s Museum- Glasgow A Sectarian City? We visited Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis. There were spectacular views over the city and we identified lots of Glasgow’s famous landmarks.

New P1 Pupils!

We are really looking forward to seeing all of our new P1 pupils on Thursday!  Parents should bring their children to the gym hall, via the front entrance for 9.30am.  Parents are invited to return via the main entrance at 2.30pm to visit the children in class!

End of Term Celebrations 2018

Yesterday afternoon we had a triple celebration!

We celebrated the hard work our pupils have done all term, the retirement of Mrs McLean, and our P7 pupils moving on to Airdrie Academy, Braidhurst, and Hamilton!  We’d like to wish everyone all the best for what’s to come! Enjoy the next chapter!

These photographs capture just a fraction of the energy and the emotion from an amazing assembly!

We’d also like to congratulate Mrs Polatajko, who will be leaving us next year to take up a new role as Principal Teacher at New Monkland Primary – they are very lucky to have her!

'Aim high! Give it your best try!'
