P7 Home Learning Grid and Leavers Song

Primary 7,

Here is your latest home learning grid. This week I have not set Sumdog or spelling challenges for you as it is our Kil-stay-at-home-ie Week and we hope that you will enjoy taking part in some of those challenges instead. You will find them on a separate post.

Home learning grid: June 2020 Home learning Grid PDF

One of the tasks on the home learning grid is a transition task set by the Technical Department from Coatbridge High: P7 Transition Booklet (technical dept)

Leavers Song

I put together a leavers song for you all and recorded it with the help of my friend. I hope you like it! Take some time to have a listen and sing along with the lyrics.

It’s still not too late to join our class team, please get in touch if you are having trouble with it!

Primary 5/6

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend with your families. Yesterday was another warm day! We enjoyed a lovely walk and spent some time out in the garden. Microsoft Teams is a great way for you to post pictures to show me what you have been doing.

This week you have a new Home Learning Grid, Spelling, Sumdog and activities on Newsround.

Capital Letter Spelling – Common Homophones and Confusions

Capital Letter Spelling 8.06.20

Full Stop Spelling – Phoneme ‘ee’

Full Stops Spelling 8.06.20

Commas Spelling – Phoneme ‘ee’

Commas Spelling 8.06.20

Question Mark – Phoneme ‘au’

Question Mark Spelling 8.06.20

Question Mark Phoneme Story ‘au’

You can also try to think of a cool spelling of your own or try spelling them out with daisies or stones or pasta.

Well done to those of you who have completed the Epic Reading. I have assigned a new book called “Platypus: A Century-long Mystery”. Have you enjoyed having a book to read? Remember you can pick different books to read too. You could maybe do a ten minute silent read like what we did in class after our lunch.

On Sumdog, I have set Probability Challenge for Maths and an Adjective Competition. Thank you for participating on the North Lanarkshire Maths Contest. I wonder where we will qualify this week!

Normally, I would make you a Microsoft Quiz but this week for a change Newsround has lots of great resources and quizzes on ‘World Oceans Day’. Today the 8th of June is ‘World Oceans Day’. This is all about protecting the ocean. A healthy planet needs a healthy ocean, but our waters face huge risks from overfishing, climate change, and plastic pollution. Here is the link for Newsround: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/curations/world-oceans-day

These tasks will also be in Microsoft Teams. If you haven’t used Microsoft Teams yet please try your best to get logged in as you are able to message me if you need any support. It is great seeing all of your hard work and catching up with you. I will upload Summer Activities on our last week of school.

This week teachers are returning to school to get everything set up for you returning in August. I will try my best to reply to you as quickly as possible.

Hope you have a great week,

Miss Jones x

P7 29.5.20

What a day! I hope you are all doing well.

Today is the first day of the easing of lockdown and a sign that we are slowly moving towards returning to our favourite activities with our friends.

I found this picture which explains in more detail about the Phase 1 of easing lockdown, I thought you might like to see it.

It has been so nice to hear from some of you on Teams. It’s not too late to join us! If you would like help getting set up, please let me or Mr Henderson know. Next week we hope to start some more leavers tasks and would love to hear your thoughts over on Teams!

Have a fantastic weekend and I will be in touch on Monday with some more leavers activities!

P7 Personal Interest Project

Hi P7,

Yesterday I mentioned that I would post about a Personal Interest Project. With your Personal Interest Project you can pick anything at all that you are interested in to study. Imagine it being like a mini-topic that we would do in class. But one where you are in charge! Pick your topic and then research it each day using the internet, books, or speaking to people. At the end of next week it would be great to hear all about what you have learned. You can share your learning in any way you like, maybe writing a fact file, a powerpoint, designing a poster, or making a video! Anything at all!

Personal Interest Project PDF

If you let me know what your topic is, I can help find some resources for you too. Maybe we can also work together to think of different fun tasks related to your topic, maybe crafts, games, music or outdoor learning. Would be great to hear what you think. You can post anything about your Personal Interest Project on here or over on our class Team.

P7 26.5.20

Good morning P7!

How was your long weekend off? I managed to get out some good long walks and I also finished my 1000 piece jigsaw of alpacas! Would be great to hear your news either here or on Teams.

Sumdog

I have set a tables challenge and a spelling challenge over on Sumdog. The spelling challenge is slightly different this week, I haven’t used your weekly spelling words, but have focussed on some suffixes and prefixes.

Spelling

Here is your weekly spelling revision challenges with your group words: Spelling lists 25520 PDF

Transition Task

This week your transition tasks focus on you and what you are looking forward to or worried about for your transition to high school.

OMPS Transition Task 2

Tomorrow I am going to post a Personal Interest Project task for you, so look out for that! Remember it is not too late to join Teams, you’re more than welcome, would be great to have you. It has been so nice to chat to some of you on Teams and hear what you have been doing.

Primary 5/6 – 26.06.20

Good morning Primary 5/6,

How was your long weekend? I hope you all had lots of fun and are all doing well. It was very stormy on Friday and Saturday! I was glad that it stopped raining on Sunday to get some fresh air. This weekend, Archie had lots of fun playing with custard and enjoyed trying cheese and tomato pastries that I made. I added ham to mine. They were delicious! Yesterday, we went a very long walk and Archie enjoyed being in his trike. He enjoys seeing dogs and points to every dog he sees. I thought he was very cute holding a flower and onto the handle bars.

Microsoft Teams
I am very impressed that lots of you are now using Microsoft Teams to help you at home with your learning. It has been lovely chatting to you and seeing the impressive work you are doing at home. Many of you tried very hard on our first Microsoft Team Quiz! I have made a new one this week focussing on Australian animals. I have attached the PowerPoint we used in class and the questions will be based from this. I also managed to add pictures to this week’s quiz!

Sumdog
A very big well done for qualifying in the North Lanarkshire Maths Contest! I am very proud of you. That was a great achievement competing with other schools in North Lanarkshire. The winners of the Time Competition are Cadence-Lee and Brooke. Well done girls! You all did a great job boys and girls. Keep it up! I have left a reward for those who took part. This week, I have set a Time Check Up for you and for Grammar, a practise task on Adjectives.

Epic Reading
On our Home Learning Grid, there is a new website for reading called EPIC. A couple of you accessed it last week. I have reattached instructions below on how to access EPIC Reading. Remember our class code is on our Grid.

I am very impressed with the hard work lots of you are doing. You are all doing so well. If you have any questions about any of the tasks and activities or need any support, please get in contact with me.

Take care,

Miss Jones x
