Primary 5/6 – Uniform Day
Good Morning Primary 5/6,
I hope we are all having a good week! How are we finding our new grid? Wasn’t yesterday a lovely day? Hopefully we get the same weather for the weekend. Remember tomorrow and Monday are holidays for us so make sure you have lots of fun! I will post new spelling and new Sumdog tasks on Tuesday 26th May.
Remember today is Uniform Day! I am looking forward to see you all in your uniform. This will make an amazing whole school collage!
Archie is finally preferring walking to crawling but I think he enjoys the speed of crawling! He has been enjoying colouring in Peppa Pig pictures. I bought him special pens that don’t come off the paper. We also made brownies this week with salted caramel and honeycomb!
It has been great talking to some of you on Microsoft Teams this week. I miss you all dearly and it has been lovely receiving messages from you. Many of you have added work to you Class Work folder which has been fantastic to see! Remember if you have an trouble getting logged in contact Mr Henderson and he will try his best to support you.
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. Miss Davidson posted a great resource on Tuesday! It is a brilliant MindWell Kindness Planner. It has lots of tips and lets you think about how you can take a few minutes out to help you relax or recharge.
I found a fun activity that could be done over our long weekend. It is called a ‘Flat Teacher Adventure’. Do not worry if you can’t print it out. You can always draw a picture of me instead! It would be great to see your pictures of you doing the activities.
Have lots of fun and stay safe,
Miss Jones x

P7 Mental Health Awareness Week
Good morning P7!
As you might know, this week is Mental Health Awareness Week. The theme this year is kindness and I have made some activities for you to try out home.
I keep thinking back to when you shared all those lovely kind notes to each other in class. I wonder if you still have them?
Here is a link to the tasks: Mental Health Awareness May 2020 PDF
One of the activities is to make a motivational quote, I’d love to see some of your efforts posted on our class Team. I gave it a go too!
It’s not too late to join our class Team, would be great to see you there!

P7 18.5.20
Good morning P7!
You will see that Mr Henderson has posted our new learning grid in a post below this one. It is also available on our class Team. It has been great to see some of you come and join us in our class Team! If you would like some support getting set up, please let me or Mr Henderson know.
I know many of you will be thinking about the high school! This week we have the first of our transition tasks: OMPS Transition Task 1ย Over the next few weeks there will be lots of opportunity to think about high school. Remember you can ask any questions in the comments section here or over on our Team.
Sumdog
This week I have set our usual spelling tasks on Sumdog. I have not set any specific maths work, but that is because our class has been entered into the North Lanarkshire Sumdog contest this week. It would be great to see as many of you as possible taking part!
Numeracy
One of the tasks on our new home learning grids is to create some multiplication and division sums of your own. This week I have made some as an example for you to complete at home.
Spelling
Your weekly spelling words and challenges can also be found here:
Would love to hear how you are getting on!

Well done of those of you who have made it on to Teams. We would love to see as many of you there as possible! If you are having problems getting set up, please let me or Mr Henderson know.
Sumdog Contest
There is a North Lanarkshire Sumdog contest starting today and I have added our class. It is available now until 8pm on May 21st. Feel free to play any time! Would be great to get as many involved as possible.
It’s Friday, so it is important to make time for Golden Time. What will you do for your Golden Time today? I managed to get hold of some gluten free self raising flour so I may make some tasty pancakes!
Have a great weekend, thinking of you all.

Primary 5/6
Hello boys and girls,
How was your week? I hope you all had a lovely week. The wind has been a little chilly! I have been putting Archie back into a jacket instead of a cardigan for our walks.
Well done to the boys and girls who managed to access Microsoft Teams this week! I have thoroughly enjoyed speaking to some of you. Remember Microsoft Teams will be up and running from Monday. It would be great if you haven’t already trying to log in and familiarising yourself with where files are and how to create a message.
Super job to those who have been on Sumdog! I can see you all tried very hard. A big well done to this weeks Time Challenge winners – Kara and Ethan and our Grammar Competition winner – Leah. There will be new tasks on Sumdog from Monday. Remember the house is open today if you would like to spend some of your coins.
Have a great weekend,

I have set new maths and spelling challenges for you this week on Sumdog. I’d love to get some feedback about what you thought about the spelling challenges as I know we haven’t done them in class before.
Spelling
Here is this week’s spelling revision and tasks for you:ย Spelling lists 11:5:20 May PDF
Many of these words will also be found on Sumdog if you have a look there too!
The 1960s
This will be our last 1960s task before moving on to looking at transition tasks. I know many of you will be looking forward to thinking about that! I have seen the fantastic things Mr Henderson has been posting about the high school already.
Our final 1960s task is all about the Berlin Wall. These tasks can be found here:ย The Berlin Wall home learning PDF
One of the tasks is a graffiti art task and I gave it a go! ย Here is my attempt, and it would be great to see yours!
Take care P7 and keep in touch.

P5/6 Home Learning – 11th May
Hello everyone,
How was your long weekend? Remember you are off today so enjoy this lovely sunshine! I hope you are keeping busy at home and try lots of activities. I am really missing you all. On Saturday, I made cheesecake and played outside with Archie. I decided to buy him a slide with his birthday money and instead of sliding down it, he just wanted to climb up it! I will put a picture of the cheesecake below and you can let me know what you think. The little ones were for my Mum, Gran and Grandpa so I could drop them off at their door. On Sunday, we went a big long walk and Archie fell asleep just before I got back to the house. But guess what came and woke him up? The ice cream van!
I have included a lot of tasks this week that can be attempted at any point. On Sumdog, you have spelling, grammar and a maths task set. Remember I can see who is attempting these challenges and tasks. Please try to be on Sumdog for over five minutes as this will help you consolidate your learning. I would also like you to try the following for spelling:
Tuesday- Capital Letter Spelling
Wednesday- Spelling Sentences
Thursday- Dictated Sentences
Friday- Choice of spelling task and Spelling test
The Royal Bank of Scotland MoneySense Mondays are focussing on ‘Keeping money safe (fraud and scams). You can get this lesson on facebook and youtube.
This week is National Digital Learning Week. Before the school closed we were looking at coding and using Scratch. You can also access this at home! If you cant remember your log in details, don’t worry! When we start using Microsoft Teams you will be able to message me and I can send these to you. I have attached a powerpoint to revise what coding is and a cryptic coding sheet too. If you can print this off you can make your own one on square paper for someone to solve.
On the 12th of May it is also Florence Nightingale’s Birthday. She was born in Florence, Italy in 1820 and was named after her city of birth. Florence Nightingale was a nurse and helped many soldiers who were hurt in the war. I have attached reading tasks for your groups. You have done reading activities like this on Australia. The answer are attached to the back.
Have a great week and enjoy the sunshine when you can! You can comment below and let me know how you get on.

P7 4.5.20
Good morning P7!
Hope you are all OK today and enjoyed your weekends. This weekend I enjoyed catching up with friends over Zoom and also watched Tarzan on Disney+! What about you?
Sumdog
This week I have set a multiplication challenge in Sumdog. It was great to see some more of you making use of Sundog last week.
I have also set a spelling challenge for you which you can do to support your spelling revision. We haven’t really used Sumdog for spelling this year, but I have provided it as an option for you. I would love to hear how you get on!
Spelling
Here is this week’s usual spelling grid and revision words. There are different challenges for you this week:ย Spelling lists 4:5:20 May
1960s – album covers
We just have a couple of 1960s tasks left! I have made some tasks for you to try out this week based on 1960s album covers. I was asking my dad about how he used to listen to music, and when he was wee he used a record player! He doesn’t have a clue how to stream music and I have been trying to teach him about it, but he seems to like using CDs best. I thought you could look into different ways we can listen to music and design your own album cover.
These tasks are here:ย Album Covers Home Learning Task
Thinking of you all! Would love to hear from you all any time in the comments.
Take care,
Miss Miller ๐

P7 HWB
Good morning P7,
As we know, it’s really important to look after our health and wellbeing, especially during these times. In class we had begun to look at mindful breathing, and practised it in class as well as at home. We learned that mindfulness is about paying attention to what we are doing moment by moment, while we are doing it. So practising Mindfulness can help us to pay attention and to concentrate better.
Why not take some time to try mindful breathing over the next few days. Remember to zip up your imaginary mindfulness jacket and either close your eyes or look to the floor when doing it.
If you can’t remember exactly what we did, I have attached a summary for you.
Maybe you can teach someone at home this activity, they might find it really helpful.
And remember, the more you do it, the easier it gets!
Thinking of you all.
Miss Miller ๐
