Christmas Wreath and Jesse Tree

The children enjoyed making their Christmas Wreath and Jesse Tree.  They also enjoyed learning about the candles on their wreath and symbols on their Tree and what they represent. (More pics to come)

Library Visit

P1/2 had a fantastic second visit to the Library. Where they got to return their books hear some exciting Christmas stories and choose their new books.

The children were so pleased they were able to go, as the weather forecast wasn’t good enough for the children to be able to walk there. However Mrs Dillon/Mrs Crawford saved the day and was able to order a bus for P1/2 to take them there and back.  Thank you very much.   They had a lovely time.  Thank you also to all our wonderful helpers who helped to make this visit possible.

Christmas Experiences

P 1/2 have  also been enjoying writing about the different experiences they have been having throughout the Christmas season.  In particular they got really excited about writing to  to tell Santa that they are trying hard to be very good and perhaps if he was not too busy he would like to know one or too of the gifts they would like for Christmas.

Thank you to Barbara and Tesco  –                                                                    Developing the Young Workforce and People Who Help Us

The children  also enjoyed writing back to Barbara from Tesco, to thank her for the wonderful experience they had, to help them in their learning about ‘Developing the Young Workforce’ and ‘People who help  Us.’

Below you can see some of the letters and pictures the children sent.

P6/7b Reflective Friday December

We began the month with our Entrepreneur Me activities presenting our business plans to Matt and waiting patiently to see if our loans were approved. Thankfully all were and the hard work was underway. We decided any profits from our enterprise would go to our friends in Unitas Court Sheltered Housing and to the parish St. Vincent de Paul

.

Another exciting day for us was when we were recorded by Radio Clyde morning show producer Calum for the Christmas jingle.

We had a visit to the Panto in Hamilton Town Hall, some of our class performed with the Christmas choir and we had a tasting day thanks to Barbara from Tesco.  We did lots of Christmas maths activities including co-ordinates, in literacy we did some discursive writing this month and we enjoyed making Christmas wreaths and 3D Christmas trees.

Christmas dinner was fa and we had a great day at our party.

A very busy month…now for some rest.

Happy Christmas

December Reflective Friday

Primary 6/7a have had a very busy month and have learned lots of new things.

Firstly we really enjoyed producing all of our entrepreneur me products and had fun selling them after the Nativity performances. This was a great success and we would like to thank you all for buying all of our products.

In class we have learned a lot about the season of Advent and have prepared ourselves to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We also have learned about Christmas in the past and how it was celebrated during the Victorian era.

In Maths we have been working on mental and written subtraction and also about co-ordinates which has been really fun. We have continued to read our Cathy MacPhail books and will continue these in January.

We can’t wait for our holidays to spend some time at home with our families. Primary 6/7a would like to wish everyone a healthy and Holy Christmas. See you in 2019.

P5/6

Primary 5/6 have been extra busy this month as we wanted to finish the year on a high with all our hard work.

We finished our IDL topic on The Victorians and created fabulous posters showcasing all our learning.  We enjoyed using a variety of sources to gather our information particularly, the Charles Dickens Shows from the internet.  Everyone enjoyed the art activity which involved drawing Victorian houses and using different techniques to create line, patterns and shading.

In all our curricular areas we have tried to link it to the festive season by writing letters to Santa Claus, describing our perfect Christmas Eve and learning the poem ‘Twas the Night before Christmas’.

In numeracy we have been working on Christmas coordinates with a particularly challenging Christmas Tree activity.

We have also been extremely creative this term and have made robins, wreaths, tree decorations and advent candles using a wide range of techniques.  Our Primary 5 pupils enjoyed an arts and craft session at the Baptist church and made decorated tiles.  It was a fun filled morning and the children met many new friends.

During our PE lessons we learned some new Scottish dances and danced with our peers from other classes.  We showcased our moves at our Christmas parties.

We wish all our family and friends a very happy and holy Christmas!

Primary 3 Reflective December

During the month of December we have been very busy again . We enjoyed painting our own Christmas plates for the Christmas fayre . We designed and created our own plates, it was so much fun.

This was our very last nativity and what a great show it was. We had been practising our songs so we hope you all enjoyed ‘The Wriggly Nativity’.

Our classroom is all decorated for  Christmas activities. We have created our own Elf, written a letter to Santa and even had an Elf visit us with Santa for our own Christmas party.

We are all looking forward to Christmas and we wish everyone a Happy Holy Christmas from Primary 3.
