Today P3 had a Topic Day where we did lots of activities to do with Living Things. Lots of learning took place with loads of discussion and a good helping of fun!
Reconciliation Retreat
On Thursday, the Primary 3 class dedicated a day to preparing for their First Reconciliation. We went over to the church hall and took part in dramas, meditations, arts and crafts and games. Here are some photos from the day.
Holy Family wants your Holey Socks!

The Eco Team have an idea up their sleeves to cut down on plastic waste. What’s that got to do with socks? Well, let me tell you. Currently we use plastic sponges to clean our whiteboards but these rip and disintegrate and don’t last very long. They are bad for the planet.
We have the solution at our fingertips (or rather, our toes!): old socks that are destined for the bin can instead be given a new purpose! We are looking for holey socks AND socks searching for a “sole”mate (odd socks)!
Please start collecting together your odd and holey socks and bring them in to Holey (I mean HOLY) Family! (We will wash them on HOT and make sure they are safe and clean to use – don’t worry: no smelly socks here!)

Period Dignity Week 2025
Period Dignity Week 2025: Free Period Products Across North Lanarkshire
We are excited to announce that Period Dignity Week will be taking place from 17th to 21st February 2025 across North Lanarkshire. As part of this initiative, the Community Partnership Team will be hosting 12 pop-up stalls throughout the region to offer a wide range of free period products and promote our pick-up points.
This is a fantastic opportunity for pupils, parents, carers, and the local community to access essential period products at no cost. We encourage everyone to visit the pop-up stalls, which will be conveniently located across North Lanarkshire.
For more details on stall locations and times, please visit our website at Free Period Products or scan here:
We appreciate your support in spreading the word and helping us raise awareness about this important initiative. Together, we can ensure that period products are accessible to all who need them.
Thank you for your support!
Kind Regards,
Jordan Irving

Primary 6 November update
Primary 6 have had a busy November, we have welcomed back Mrs Speirs and she will be teaching our class on a Thursday and Friday. We are all really excited to have her but sad to see Miss Gallagher leave but wish her good luck in her new school.
This month we have been focusing on Scottish castles, we have been in groups and have been researching a different castle each and have been learning about the history of each and why it is important. We will be presenting short group talks on these to the rest of the class.
In literacy we have been working really hard on our novels Tribes and Kensuke’s Kingdom. We have been using the comprehension strategies to help us gain a better understanding of these and we are really enjoying the storylines of both books.
In Maths we have been focusing on mental and written addition and subtraction. We have been trying out different strategies and using these to solve a variety of problems. With Mrs Speirs we have also finished measurement and moved on to learning a little about coordinates, these are really fun.
As it is the month of the Holy souls, we have focused on remembering those who are no longer with us and praying for them. Along with this we have learned about the lives of some of the saints and have been creating our own power points about a saint that is important to us. We especially loved learning about Maximillian Kolbe, be sure to ask us all about this special mans life as it is very interesting!
We are looking forward to December for lots of fun Christmas activities and learning some traditional Scottish dances for our parties!
