Our Week of Learning

Primary 1 have all been given special badges. They show us our house.  Green is for Arran , Blue is for Skye , Yellow is for Iona and Red is for Mull. We can wear our badge everyday.

We can earn points for our houses by working hard.

Kirstyn “in”

Rosie “I”

Reece “it”.

Arran “We wrote them on the ipads and in our jotter.”

Reece” We have been learning about the three bears, we have had to order them in sizes”.

We all liked acting out the story in our house corner.

The Big Bad Wolf Visited Primary 1

Primary 1 have had an exciting few days. We were reading the three little pigs, so we decided we wanted to try to build our own houses just like in the three little pigs. We were quite shocked because the wolf turned up to try to blow them down!

Oscar “I made a stick house, the wolf blew it down!”

Fyfe “It was a mask on the hair dryer that made it look like a wolf.”

Robbi “The wolf didn’t blow my house down, it was made out of bricks.”

Aarnav “All of my friends at the bricks built a huge house, the big bad wolf blew most of our house down but not all of it”

We also have been enjoying doing some painting. We painted the three little pigs and the big bad wolf in groups.

In maths we have  been learning about the number 5. We enjoyed pretending to be the 5 speckled frogs. We got to sing the song and jump into the ‘water’ when it was our turn!

Pattern

This week we have been learning all about pattern for maths week.

Fyfe “We have been learning about rhyming words like cat and fat”.

Arran + Charlie”We made patterns with the pegs”.

Kirstyn ” I made a pattern with magnetic squares and used red and blue”.

Kade ” We made patterns with beads.”

CrystalMarie “We made a picture pattern and we had to cut them out.”

Here is some pictures of our fantastic work.

Last week we were learning all about the letter ‘a’. We were singing lots of songs about it and were colouring items that start with that letter. We had to colour in an ambulance, an apple, an astronaut and an ant! We were also drawing pictures of things that started with an ‘a’. Most of us drew Asda!

We have also been super busy in maths. We were pretending to be secret agents and we had to sort everything in the class into colours! It was lots of fun and we did really well but it took a while to put everything back into its place after the colour hunt!

Primary 1a have had another busy week in school. This week we have been learning the number 2. We have been practising writing the number in the sand, making it with playdoh and singing songs about it. One of our favourite things to do is sing the number of the day song.

We have also been super sorters! We have been sorting socks into pairs, sorting objects into float or sink and sorting objects into big and small. We did a great job and had lots of fun doing it. Here are some pictures of us hard at work.

We have also been doing some super writing. Some children who tried extra hard with their letters got to be a star writer and have a medal to wear this week!

First Week at School!

Primary 1a cannot believe we have already finished our first full week at school. We have been having lots of fun making new friends and learning new things.

Last week we learned two new numbers, zero and one. We have been learning songs about the numbers, writing the numbers and making the numbers with sand and playdoh.

We are also learning to write our name which can be quite tricky but we are all doing a super job.

Here are some pictures of our first week at school.

Day 4 of Health Week: Smoothies

For day 4 of Health Week we focused on healthy eating and food preparation.  We had to wash our hands, put on our aprons, tie our hair back and take off any jewellery.

When we were making our smoothies we worked with our partners, our groups and Mrs Noble.  Each person in the group got to choose one ingredient for the smoothie.  We were able to choose from:  apple juice, orange and mango, blueberries, mango, raspberries, bananas, yogurt and pineapple.

We put all of our ingredients into the blender and made sure we put on the lid.  We turned on the blender to mix them up and it made a very loud noise.  All the ingredients mixed together and went all smooth.  Each group’s smoothie look a different colour and they all tasted a little different.

Some of us liked them and some of us didn’t. We enjoyed preparing a healthy snack for ourselves this afternoon.

Health Week Day 3 and Sports Day

Wednesday was Sports Day! We had great fun competing in the 3 different races. We took part in the flat race, hurdles race and bean bag race. We are happy that the rain stayed away!

Thank you to all our families who were able to come and cheer us on!

In the afternoon we had some time to think about how we are all special and unique! We drew beautiful self portraits using a mirror. They looked so good when they were finished!
