Class Of The Week!

Yesterday at assembly Mrs Woodward told us that we had been awarded class of the week.  This afternoon we had an extra playtime out in the sunshine as our reward.  We think we were class of the week for doing good work, having our gym kits and having lovely manners.

We had great fun outside for our extra playtime and enjoyed having the playground all to ourselves.

All about ‘a’

We have been learning about our ‘a’ sound. We have been learning to read and write it. We enjoyed finding letter ‘a’ in the sand. We worked hard to make things that started with ‘a’ with the playdoh. We made a collage using catalogues. We looked for things to cut out that started with ‘a’ or different kinds of ‘a’ letters.

Harrison – We know that we need to follow the caterpillar to write this letter.

Mason – We know that it is one of our small letters.

Amelie – We know that it sits on the line and we start with our pencil in the middle of the line.

The Big Bad Wolf

We were making houses from wood and straw and bricks. We need a lot of sticky tape to put it together. We used almost a full box. We worked in groups with our friends.

The Big Bad Wolf was in the classroom. The Big Bad Wolf is the baddie. We each had a chance to use the Big Bad Wolf to blow down our house. The brick houses were the strongest and he couldn’t blow them down. The stick houses were quite strong too. The big bad wolf couldn’t blow them down. The straw houses blow away but they were so well made that they didn’t get wasted.

Charlotte – I was really tricky for the wolf to blow down our brick house.

Christopher – I liked having a go of the scary wolf.

Alexa – I enjoyed building the brick house.

Olivia D – I liked building m y straw house with my group. We used lots of sticky tape.

The Number 1

We have been learning to read and write number 1. We learned a rhyme to help us remember how to write it.

“Number 1 is like a stick a straight line that is very quick.”

We know how many 1 is too. We were writing number 1 on the whiteboards. We were making number 1 with the playdoh and we had to put 1 apple in the tree. We were using stencils to draw number 1 as well.
