First Few Weeks of P1

Primary 1 have had a great start to the year! We have all settled in well and have enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends.

Literacy

So far in Primary 1 we have been learning about rhyming words, we know that cat rhymes with bat. We have also been reading lots of books that rhyme.

This week we have learned our first sound ‘a’. We love to sing our jolly phonics song about ‘ants on our arm’. We know lots of words that start with ‘a’ like apple and ant, we even have two boys in our class with ‘a’ at the start of their name.

Maths

We have been working hard in maths too. We have been singing lots of songs to help us count all the way up to 20 and we have been practising counting from 10 back to 0.

We have also been practising writing the numbers 0,1,2 and 3. We have learned lots of rhymes to help us write our numbers.

Here are a few pictures of our first couple of weeks in primary 1!

  1. Looks like you have all been very busy in Primary 1a since you started. I am so proud of how settled you all are, and how hard you’ve all been working. Keep it up!!
