NLC Communication

Today’s announcement from the Scottish Government outlines the plan to reopen all schools on a full time basis from August.

We are currently considering the practicalities and implications of this announcement and will await further clarification and guidance from government, particularly in relation to public health and scientific advice.

Our priority is the safety of our pupils and staff across our network of primary, secondary and ASN schools, as well as our early learning and childcare settings.

We understand that you will have questions, and as this news was only announced today, we will make further information available on how this impacts on our schools and facilities in the coming days.

We are preparing for pupils to return full-time to school on 12 August and we will be working closely with our schools and partners, including our early years and childcare provision to establish our plans, which we will communicate as soon as we are in a position to.

Virtual Sports Day!!

Monday 22nd June is the big day!  We would love all of our pupils and families to participate.  Chapelgreen and Banton Primaries have entered a joint team for this event.

This picture tells you the timeline for the day.

There are 7 events.  This picture tells you what the events are and what equipment you can use.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a printer to print off the scorecard.

You can use a pencil and paper to record the scores and send them in to Mrs Savva (Meimaroglou) via email.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  Above all, this is a fun event and an opportunity for our pupils and families to get outside and enjoy themselves.

Remember, EVERYONE can participate and ALL scores will be counted.  So, grab your trainers and get the whole household involved in some active outdoor fun and games.

Scores can be emailed to Mrs Savva (Meimaroglou).

Active Schools are also encouraging you to tweet photos of you participating to @NLActiveSchools using #NLSportsDay.

There is a chance to win £50 of sporting equipment for the school.

KILSYTH’S GOT TALENT!

You still have time to get involved in one of the most popular events in Civic Week – the talent show!  Despite not being able to do this in person you can make a video and send it in.  The Civic Week team will create a digital show for everyone to enjoy.

Anyone aged 16 & under can enter.  Due Saturday, 6th June! Good luck.

Friday Challenge-CCK Virtual Relay- Friday 5th June

Fun Friday Challenge

CCK North Lanarkshire Active Schools Virtual Relay Challenge

This week we would love if you would participate in the Active Schools Virtual Relay.

All you have to do is walk, run, scoot or cycle a distance of your choice and send in your distance so it can be collated. The school will then send the totals to Active Schools Co-ordinator who will work out which city we have managed to travel to.

As a small school, we know that we might not travel as far as some other large schools but we are always up for a challenge. All pupils and staff are encouraged to participate.

So, lace up the trainers, get on the walking shoes or look out the bike or scooters and get involved.

We would encourage you to take photos and tweet them using the hashtag #CCKVirtualRelay and #NLActiveSchools and also remember to tag us @Chapelgreen _PS

Once you are done either tweet the distance using @NLActiveSchools or if you prefer, email the distance to Mrs Savva rmeimaroglou@chapelgreen.n-lanark.sch.uk
Take a look at the poster attached to find out more details. Should you have any questions please just get in touch with Mrs Savva.

Family Challenge: Dance!

Family Dance Challenge!

Time to get those dancing shoes on, those endorphins pumping and that heart racing!

This week’s family learning challenge will focus on Expressive Arts.

Taking part in dance contributes to your child’s physical education and physical activity.
Your child will develop their technical skills and the quality of their movement, and use their imagination and skills to create and choreograph a dance sequence. Healthy Body equals healthy mind!

We would love the whole family to get involved in this.

Challenge

We are aware that Tik Tok has been a favourite pastime of many of our pupil’s during lockdown.
We would like you either on your own, with your sibling or the whole family to make up a short routine to a dance and send us the short video clip.

Be as creative as you like, you can even dress up for it.
All we ask is you choose a song that is appropriate and does not contain any profanities.

All the clips will be collated to make a short video which will be posted on the school blog.
We will also choose the top three clips as winners.

We look forward to seeing your dance moves and happy faces.

The closing date for the competition is Monday 1st June 2020.

Email: rmeimarouglou@chaplegreen.n-lanark.sch.uk with your enteries.

Get the tunes on and start dancing.

Love,

Mrs Savva

Hello!! Family Learning Challenge.

Good afternoon everyone.  Thanks to all of our fabulous pupils and staff who participated in last week’s Family Learning Challenge.

The aim of the challenge was to allow us to say a distanced “Hello” to each other and to share what we have been grateful for during this period of time.

Our learning community has risen to the challenge and it is great to see all these wonderful faces again albeit only in a photo.

Hope the video has made a few people smile today!

Family Challenge May 2020

family learning challenge 12th May

Good Evening Everyone

Please find a link above for a wee challenge for all our families.  Mrs Rae, PT at Banton PS made this for us and we would like to put both schools together to spread a positive message and give pupils and staff, if they wish the opportunity to see everyone.  Photographs of children should not have their name on their work.

Don’t worry if you don’t want your child’s photo to be seen – only for you, please put a name on the poster, with a photo of the work.

Just a wee bit of fun.

Kind Regards
Siobhan McLeod &
Chapelgreen Team
