You will have received an email from the school with a link to this section of the website. Here you will find a presentation which will guide you and your child to make the best options choices for them to be successful in S4 and beyond.
S4 to S5 and S5 to S6 Options Information
It is important that when your child completes their option choices that you sign and return their form to school so that we can attempt to meet their curricular needs.
S4 and S5 pupils will receive a paper copy of the options choices in PSE, from this pupils will indicate one subject they would like to drop. Please click the link below to see the options choices for session 26/27.
The options form is free choice, pupils can select their options from any of the subjects that are on offer. It is important that pupils are ambitious in the subjects they pick to ensure that they are adding value to the qualifications they will gain from school. A reminder that S5 pupils must pick 5 subjects, S6 pupils should pick 4 subjects or 3 if one of these is an Advanced Higher.
Pupils in S5 and S6 will also have access to courses offered by New College Lanarkshire, please click the link below for the current list of courses. Pupils should still make a full set of options choices for courses offered in school as the college courses may not run due to low uptake or it could clash with another subject choice. College courses start in August each school year.

Information to current S4 and S5 learners:
Please use your school reports, parents evening meetings and any discussion with your Pupil Support teacher (Mrs McConville for pupils in the LCSC). during your PSE period (and/or any other time if required) to help you complete your choices.
Please note that we will do everything possible to ensure that pupil choice is met.
However, classes can only run where numbers choosing the subject (and level) are sufficient to justify this and where we have sufficient staff.

The anticipated timeline for options choices is below:
- Friday 13 February- options forms published on school website along with guidance presentation. College offer will also be shared online.*
- Wednesday 25 February (S5)/ Thursday 26 February (S4)– receive options form in PSE from Pupil Support Teacher (Mrs McConville for pupil in the LCSC). Paper copy to pupils and copy on school website along with guide to choosing subjects. S5 will have one to one meetings with SLT regarding options.
- Wednesday 4 March (S5)/ Thursday 5 March (S4)– pupils will use time in PSE to discuss options with Pupil Support Teacher (Mrs McConville for pupils in the LCSC). SLT will have one to one meetings with S6 regarding options.
- Friday 6 March– initial submission of options forms due to Mr Connelly.
Once the initial submission has been made, Mr Connelly will do an initial scoping exercise to check choices. Please note that in some cases, pupils may be asked to pick alternative options if subjects are unable to run due to low numbers or clashing with another subject choice.
*College offer is subject to change and courses may not run- this is sometimes not confirmed by the college until nearer the summer and sometimes when we return in August. Pupil should select a full set of options in school in case college offer does not run.
