YPI 2024 – Grand Final
We were delighted to host our grand final again this year with all of S2 in attendance and, in addition, our S1 pupils who will be participating in 2025. We welcomed parents/carers of the finalists, staff, invited guests and charity representatives too.
The standard this year was incredible – our final 7 groups showcased their creativity and ambition with dance, raps which were written and performed, recorded drama scenes and even a visit from a horse! All pupils advocated for their chosen charities with passion and dedication, but, there could only be one winner in the end…
And it was Ponies Help Children! Mrs Grant is incredibly proud of Jessica, Andrew & Lily who the judges announced as the winning group.
YPI 2023 – Grand Final
For the first time since launching YPI, Brannock High School was finally able to host the grand final in the games hall with all of S2 in attendance, as well as staff, charity representatives and parents/carers of the finalists joining too.
The standard this year was unbelievably high – our final 7 groups showcased their creativity and ambition with self-made animations, raps which were written and performed and recorded drama scenes. All pupils advocated for their chosen charities with passion and dedication, but, there could only be one winner in the end…
And it was Rookie Rockstars! Miss Paterson is incredibly proud of Aiden, Robert, Neive & Darcey who the judges announced as the winning group.
A huge thanks must be extended to our judging panel made up of (L-R) Kai, from last year’s winning group; Mr McConnachie, Head Teacher; David Baker, General Manager from MB Aerospace; and Audrey Hulme, from our Parent Council. They told us that had a very difficult time making their decision (and it took them a long time!) as they were so impressed by what they had seen.
MB Aerospace are one of our DYW partners, we were thrilled that they agreed to get involved in our YPI final. Alongside David, Lynn Poole, the HR Business Partner for Motherwell and Burnley was also in attendance and gave very positive feedback following the 7 finalists’ performances. You can find out more about MB Aerospace here.
Following the victory, we were delighted to welcome Jackie Cullen from Rookie Rockstars who thanked the group in person and even extended an invitation to their Rockathon in September!

YPI 2023 – National Event
Our winning group were invited along to attend the national event in Perth in June. One of the other groups from the grand final was also invited to perform. All of our young people behaved impeccably and enjoyed seeing what impact their participation in YPI had had and it was great to showcase the work of Brannock in front of over 1000 attendees.
YPI 2022
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our final was held in class again this year with a judging panel made up of HT Kevin McConnachie, past winner Layla France, local business owner Brian Breen of B-Line travel & our campus police officer. A representative from YPI was also virtually present.
The judges saw outstanding presentations & creative elements from our hard-working S2. We had poems, boxing matches, dramas, music and strong links to social issues such as mental health, young carers, disabilities & youth health and wellbeing.
This year’s finalists presented demonstrated excellent presenting, speaking and creative skills. This made choosing a winner very hard for our judging panel. After much deliberation, they chose:
Keir Hardie ABC! Max, Kai, Jamie & Lucas did a fantastic job representing their charity and were delighted to win them the £3000. The boys created and performed their own drama as well as showing off their own boxing medals alongside their presentation.
Every group did a fantastic job and we are so proud of all the hard work and effort everyone put in to putting on such a fantastic showcase event for the final!
You can see everyone in action here and here.
