OUR VISION – ‘place of enthusiastic learning and achievement’.
Our vision for Balmalloch Primary School and Nursery Class reflects a passionate commitment to learning and the recognition of the uniqueness of individual learners. It is driven by our core values and the desire to offer the best possible education for our pupils in partnership with parents and the local community. We believe our approach will inspire learners of develop a growth mindset through our motto; Believe in Yourself, Achieve your Goals, creating a ‘place of enthusiastic learning and achievement’.
Our Vision Statement and Aims meet with Article 6 from the Rights of the child, which states we must do all we can to ensure that children survive and develop their full potential.
OUR VALUES
The children in the school and nursery have recently worked on writing our school values. They decided on :
In February 2022 we were the first school in Scotland to achieve the School of Character Quality Mark Award for our work with our values education.
Our values permeate all aspects of school life and this also includes our work with families and the community. They are the basis of our Star Pupil awards that we share with our families and also the focus of the HT, PT and DHT award.
Our values permeate through everything that we do as a school. We look for our values to be – “Caught, Sought & Taught” through a variety of learning experiences and pupil voice.
Our 2021/2022 Pupil Council had a meeting a decided that each stage P1-4 would focus on one value at each of the stages and in P5 to P7, two values would be the focus. By the time the children reach the end of their journey in primary school, they will have explored all of our values. This is what they decided:

To enable all in our care to reach their maximum potential educationally, socially and emotionally in a safe, happy, secure and trusting environment.
To ensure that children are given the opportunities to become successful learners through effective learning and teaching based upon clear aims, policies and through a structured learning programme which offers both challenge and support.
To encourage all children to develop an appreciation of self-worth, respect for themselves and others in an environment where success is celebrated and promoted thus encouraging all children to become confident individuals.
To strive to create and maintain a positive partnership between parents and the whole school community where each plays a vital role in the development of our children’s moral and social values in order that they become responsible citizens.
To foster independence and the development of positive attitudes and self- discipline within an agreed code of conduct to ensure that all children feel accepted and valued encouraging them to be effective contributors within their environment and the wider community.
