Primary 3

Welcome

Hello everyone! It is great to have the children back in school after the summer break and lovely to see such a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards our learning. The children have enjoyed seeing their
friends again and building relationships with their new classmates. If you have any queries, our P3 Teams page is now up and running. You can also email me at nlhuntera1@northlan.org.uk.

Numeracy and Literacy
The starting point for our Numeracy programme this year will be planned around identified areas requiring consolidation from P2. In particular this will be Multiplication and Division and Fractions. We will be exploring patterns through Multiplication and Division using concrete resources and an active based programme.
After some consolidation, we will be following the Stage 3 Active Literacy spelling programme which will consist of 1 phoneme and 4 common words per week. Additionally, we will be reinforcing our core targets through our daily and taught writing. We will link our information report writing to our IDL topic.

Homework
Homework will be posted on our Teams page on a weekly basis. Completed homework can be handed in on Teams through ‘Class Notebook’ where I will leave either verbal or written feedback. Also, homework can be completed on paper and handed to me in class.

Sumdog

Sumdog is a great, active resource which children can access at home. There will be regular competitions set on Sumdog which link to our learning in class and can be used as part of the homework programme. If you need usernames/passwords resent, then please just send me an email and I can send this to you.

IDL
Our IDL topic will be ‘Under the Sea’ which will look at the impact of plastic pollution on the ocean and sea creatures. This links in with our school Eco Action Plan as we start to look at ways to help the environment. This topic will be skills-based, which will encourage children to investigate and compare natural environments different from their own. In addition, children will develop sorting skills within a specific category by looking at living and non-living things under the sea. This topic is planned in line with the Global Goals (13. 14).

P.E
Our P.E days will be a Tuesday afternoon and a Thursday morning. Miss Reid will be in the class on a Thursday morning and will be covering P.E, Science and Health and Wellbeing.

Teams
The Primary 3 Teams page is now up and running! If you are having any issues accessing Glow and Teams, please let me know and I can reset your child’s password. I will post updates/photos on the Teams page and if you have any questions, feel free to pop a message on our Teams page.

Twitter

I try as often as I can to upload some snapshots of our learning to Twitter. @KeirHardieMem
