Primary 1 and Primary 2/3 really enjoyed coming together for the new style of Privilege time. The children selected their activity for privilege time at the start of the week and worked towards it all week. Miss Kelly had fun playing party games with some children and Miss Anderson was getting messy doing art activities with some. We were lucky this week to have Mrs Tomney playing some games in the hall too! We are all looking forward to earning all our time next week.

Homework – Every mistake you make is progress
Dear Parent/Carers,
Thank you to all who have written a comment regarding our new homework format. It was very informative reading the comments and the majority of parents seem to be pleased with the new layout.
We will continue to give the homework to the pupils on a Wednesday but can we please have it returned on a Tuesday. This allows the teachers an opportunity to check the previous homework tasks and set the new work.
Although the pupils have the homework over the weekend you do not have to use your weekend to complete the homework. This is to allow flexibility for all families and for each family to decide when best to complete tasks.
We would like to see ALL pupils completing and returning homework.
Here are some of the comments we received:
“… having a week is ideal. Means the kids don’t get stressed or fed up.”
“…I feel this is best issued Mon-Thurs, as I feel having homework at weekends takes up quality family time”
“Glad to see the return of homework!”
“Very pleased that homework now runs Wed-Wed, allowing more relaxed time to assist with projects”
“Great to see homework back in a structured way”
“Found the new homework format easy and more manageable…”
“It was a task to complete this week’s work as we were away for the weekend, so we had less days to do it in”
Also remember that homework is a consolidation of learning and should not take too long to complete. The IDL project may take longer but you will be given additional time for that.
Please continue to write your comments so we can continue to review and change or adapt to suit the needs of our families.

Fun with construction!
The boys and girls from Primary 2 and 3 loved being creative at the first week of Construction club!
Introducing our JRSO’s!
Meet Keir Hardie’s Junior Road Safety Officers, Kian Irvine (P7) and Elysa Scott (P6). They attended their first JRSO conference on Wednesday with Miss Anderson to find out about some of the exciting things they’ll be taking part in and organising within the school. They were full of enthusiasm and left with some great ideas that they can’t wait to share with the rest of the school!
