247tales (homework)

247 tales

The theme for April is ‘The Joke’. Please submit your short stories on Monday 18th April either handwritten or printed (no memory sticks this time – sorry!).  Remember to write your name and the word count (less than 247, of course!) on your entry. I look forward to reading these and sending them off to the Bloomsbury competition!

‘Our guest author this month is bestselling teen writer Celia Rees. Celia has written a 247tale with her audience in mind but remember you can interpret the theme as widely as you wish.’ http://247tales.wordpress.com/

Celebrity Culture

Class 2.1 are studying the phenomenon of Celebrity Culture that is sweeping through the nation. They will explore:

What is Celebrity Culture?

Why is it so popular?

How is it promoted?

What is the effect and impact?

Students will then write a persuasive piece of writing either for or against Celebrity Culture.

Holocaust Memorial Day

‘Holocaust Memorial Day – 27 January – is a time to remember those who have been murdered in the Holocaust and under Nazi persecution, in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur. On HMD we act to learn the lessons of the past to create a safer, better future.’

The pupils of class 2.1  have  completed pieces of imaginative writing in memory of the victims of The Holocaust.  Some would like to share theirs with you…

Greatest Briton Project

Every pupil is given the name of a British person considered to be a ‘Great Briton’. Their challenge is to research this person and then deliver a solo talk that will persuade their classmates that their person really is the greatest! After everyone has presented, we will vote for the person we think is the Greatest Briton based on the information given and how well the person persuaded us! Good Luck!

AND THE WINNER OF THE GREATEST BRITON COMPETITION IS…
