World Book Day

All S1 classes have been taken off timetable for one week to celebrate World Book Day. Every class has selected a theme and their aim is to create an attractive and informative wall display for the department. The displays will then be judged by our Head Teacher, Mr Somerville, and the winners will receive a book related prize!

Some of the ideas this year have been fantastic!

  • Our Favourite Books
  • Heroes and Villains
  • The World of Roald Dahl
  • Boys vs. Girls
  • Fairytales

and more!

Take a look at our English Department Blog for more information and why not have fun exploring the WBD Website:

Holocaust Memorial Day 2011

‘Holocaust Memorial Day – 27 January – is a time to remember those who have been murdered in the Holocaust and under Nazi persecution, in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur. On HMD we act to learn the lessons of the past to create a safer, better future.’

Please show your support for HMD2011 by lighting the memorial candle at: http://www.hmd.org.uk/

Fairytale Unit

Class 1.1 will be exploring the imaginative world of fairytales. They will study the typical plot, characterisation and theme of fairytales and also how fairytales can be twisted! Pupils will then write their own imaginative fairytale and take part in a competition on our special Fairytale Day!
