School Summer Trip – June 2017

Pupils will be issued with letters on Thursday (25/05/17) about the School Summer Trip on Thursday 22 June 2017.

This year the destination for our summer outing for S1 – S3 pupils will be the theme park on Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The coaches will be leaving school at 7.00am on Thursday 22 June and returning at approximately 8.00pm. The theme park is an enclosed space and pupils are unable to leave unless accompanied by a member of staff.

We have places for 175 pupils and staff, so if the number of pupils wishing to come to Blackpool exceeds that number then seats will be allocated by drawing names by ballot.

The price this year is £36 and includes travel and the wristband which gives unlimited rides on all of the attractions.

If your child is in S1 – S3 and wishes to go on the trip you should complete and sign the tear off slip attached and return it together with the money as soon as possible to the school office.

Please also note that any pupil has who breached the school discipline policy, in this term or in the weeks leading up to the trip, including being sent to Time –Out, will not be allowed to travel to Blackpool. Any such pupil will have their money returned and their place on the trip will be allocated to another pupil. This includes conduct on other school trips.

Tinto

Ninety-Four S3 pupils and staff climbed Tinto Hill today in aid of St Andrew’s Hospice.

Well done to all involved – and a special mention to the teachers and girls who also ran the Race For Life yesterday: Good Effort.

Quiz Night

Our very 1st Parent Council quiz night was a resounding success.

Parents, staff and former pupils met up in Holy Family Church hall for a 40th Anniversary fundraising event.  We had a quiz, raffle ticket bingo, raffle prizes and a great deal of hilarity.

A big thank you to all involved – we raised £751.79.

Race For Life

Staff and pupils participated in Glasgow’s Race For Life this morning.  A great opportunity and experience for our young people, the teachers enjoyed their morning too.  Well done to all who took part.

Enterprise

S1 Enterprise classes have been inviting their parents to attend coffee shops in Snap Dragon this week.  The pupils plan, prepare and serve all the sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee.  Jobs include food preparation, dish washer filling, serving and front of house duties – all carried out in our professional kitchen and restaurant.

It’s fantastic to see so many parents and family members getting involved in the life of the school – Parental Involvement is so important to staff and pupils.   Thank you.

Faith

Miss Callaghan and the RE department have organised two fabulous days with URSPACE and the Silesian Sisters

An an awesome experience of faith, reflection and prayer.

These activities compliment “This is Our Faith” and allows our young people to reflect, pray, relax and make time for God.

S1 Stem Day

Science – Technology – Engineering – Maths

Today our S1 were challenged to plan, design and build a floating garden.  Each group had to produce a cost effective, sustainable way of growing the maximum amount of food.  Many thanks to for the superb prizes of family passes to the Glasgow Science Centre, the pupils were delighted!   A massive thank you also goes to our STEM Ambassadors Carol, Emma & Peter for their contributions today, it was very much appreciated.

S1 STEM day awards….best design…..most innovative…..best individual performance.

With thanks to our Ambassadors Emma and Carol.

Daily Prayers

“God doesn’t love you if….

God loves you always.

Remind yourself of that when feelings of failure, loneliness and despair come over you.

Comparing yourself to others will only make you feel that you don’t measure up or worse still,

make you feel better than others.

God only wants your best effort, not perfection.

You are you, loved by God, imperfect and beautiful.

Based on the words of Nick Vujicic

Our Father…..

School Prayer

Lord, I thank you for bringing me to another day.

May I live it completely for You,

Through you,

With You and in you. Amen
