Daily Prayer

Dear Lord, I know you receive what is in my heart. Let me be inspired by your words and by the actions of your son, Jesus. Guide me to make sacrifices this Lent in the spirit of self-denial and with greater attention to you and to those around me. Help me to believe that you will grant me this because of the sacrifice Jesus made for me.

Daily Prayer

lovePrayer for Peace around the world

Reflection:
Today around the world there is much injustice, suffering and intolerance. We pray especially for all young people who are exploited or who find themselves caught up in violent situations. We pray for boys and girls whose childhood has been stolen in the cause of war, slavery and greed.

Prayer:

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

School Prayer
Lord, I thank you for bringing me to another day.
May I live it completely for You,
Through you,
With You and in you. Amen
Blessed John Henry Newman, Pray for Us.

Daily Prayer

Prayers for WB February 11th 2016Reflection: What would you list as your worst habit as a son or daughter? Being selfish? Inattention? Interrupting? Putting things off? Pick one habit and try, a day at a time, to let go of it. Jesus came to free the prisoners. If you feel like a prisoner to a bad habit, take advantage of Lent to loosen its grip on your life.

Prayer:
Every morning, first thing, ask God to help you be a better son or daughter. You have a mission from God to be the kind of person your parents need you to be. Sometimes when I’m worried about a difficult situation in my family, I think ahead to that situation and picture God already there. With the thought that God is present there, my attitude changes. My fear diminishes; my love grows. I no longer see it as a “godforsaken situation”.

School Prayer
Lord, I thank you for bringing me to another day.
May I live it completely for You,
Through you,
With You and in you. Amen

“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier” Blessed Mother Teresa

Reflection: Sometimes when we are tired or have a lot on our minds it can be easy to disregard how people feel in our company. We may give short replies or smart replies that can leave people feeling unsettled when they leave us. We all have countless opportunities to share joy with all we meet. This can be through a smile or a kind word.

Prayer: O Lord God, sometimes my heart is heavy and I struggle to be nice to people. Help me to reach out to others and share the joy and happiness that I am capable of sharing. Keep me close to you, confident in the knowledge that you know my every need.

School Prayer: Lord, I thank you for bringing me to another day. I live it completely for You, Through you, With You and in you. Amen Blessed John Henry Newman, Pray for Us.

“Mercy is an action that gives evidence of divine favour- a blessing” Joe Paprocki

3rd feb.jpeg
Reflection: Merciful acts in all their kindness and tenderness are varied and powerful indicators of God’s love working amongst us. Using our good manners, holding the door for the person behind you, joining in confidently with daily prayers and being generous in our charity contributions are some of the ways this week that we can be merciful here in Cardinal Newman High School.
Prayer: O Lord God, there are times when kindness and tenderness are far from my mind. Help me to keep mercy as my focus today and seek your love in all that I do. In this special year of mercy may the world become more peaceful and tolerant. May more people begin to show your love in their actions.

Mother Teresa.jpeg‘God has not called me to be successful. He called me to be faithful’ Blessed Teresa of Calcutta
Reflection: Being successful has many different measures, for some it is a big house and a fancy car. While these are important to many, faithfulness to God goes further than any of these temporary measures. Faith in God can be witnessed through being the best we can be in Cardinal Newman High School and developing all the many talents God has given us. Faithfulness through prayer and also merciful, kind actions are what we are learning about this week.
Prayer: Dear Lord, during this week when the Church in Scotland is focussed on learning to be Merciful, please help us to mindful of our relationship with you. In all our actions may we strive to be kind and caring to one another, may we be an example of our faith in action through all our good deeds.

Daily Prayer

“Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who sets the planets in motion.” ― Isaac Newton

Isaac N
Reflection: Sometimes it is very easy to dismiss something because there appears to be no rational explanation or if something becomes too difficult we can easily give up on it. Sometimes time can show us eventually what we need, we just have to trust that the route to it might not be something that is immediately obvious to us.
Prayer For Increased Faith and Mercy
Increase in us, Lord, the faith you have given us, Look after the pupils of Cardinal Newman High School that during this Catholic Education Week they will have the chance to become, even more, people of loving compassion, humble in seeking forgiveness and merciful in pardoning the offences of others. AMEN

Reflection
“You don’t choose your family, they are God’s gift to you as you are to them.” Desmond Tutu
Reflection: All too often, we take for granted those who care for us and make our lives special. We often get distracted by everyday tasks to really appreciate all our loved ones do for us. May we become more mindful of the impact they have on our lives.
Prayer – Lord, we pray for those who care for us and our families. Allow us to be grateful for all they do for us. Amen.

Reflection: After Christmas, a time of giving and sharing, we may have many more material possessions. It is important to appreciate all we have received as there will always be others with more or less than ourselves. It is important to become richer as a person; become more kind, patient and understanding.

Prayer: Lord, help us appreciate all we have in life and think of those less fortunate than ourselves. Amen.
