Quiz Night

Our very 1st Parent Council quiz night was a resounding success.

Parents, staff and former pupils met up in Holy Family Church hall for a 40th Anniversary fundraising event.  We had a quiz, raffle ticket bingo, raffle prizes and a great deal of hilarity.

A big thank you to all involved – we raised £751.79.

Race For Life

Staff and pupils participated in Glasgow’s Race For Life this morning.  A great opportunity and experience for our young people, the teachers enjoyed their morning too.  Well done to all who took part.

S1 Stem Day

Science – Technology – Engineering – Maths

Today our S1 were challenged to plan, design and build a floating garden.  Each group had to produce a cost effective, sustainable way of growing the maximum amount of food.  Many thanks to for the superb prizes of family passes to the Glasgow Science Centre, the pupils were delighted!   A massive thank you also goes to our STEM Ambassadors Carol, Emma & Peter for their contributions today, it was very much appreciated.

Transition

This years’ 2 day visit for our new S1 intake is on Tuesday May 9 and Wednesday May 10.

Pupils should come in their own school uniform and meet in the red social area before the bell, day one finishes at 3.15pm.  Remember we have a welcome disco on Tuesday 6-8pm, and that Wednesday is PE all afternoon finishing at 3pm.

Lunch will be provided but send coins with your child if they intend to buy a snack at break too.

 

Quiz Night

The Parent Council are organising a fantastic quiz night in support of our 40th Anniversary fundraising events.  

We have a full programme of activities planned by an experienced quiz master.

May 19 @ 7pm in Holy Family Church Hall.  Tickets £3 per person.

Tickets can be purchased from the school office or members of the parent council.

Please also help out with donations for raffle prizes .

 

 

 

Don’t wait too long as there are a maximum of 110 tickets.

 

 

 

An exciting feature of this quiz are transfer windows, buying and selling of players and the buying of answers!

London Trip

Some S6 girls in London this weekend, attending the largest Catholic youth event in Britain with the local Salesian Sisters. They are travelling with pupils from St Maurice’s, John Paul Academy, St Ninian’s (East Renfrewshire) and St Andrew’s & St Bride’s High Schools.

Parental Reminder that S3 pupils have now received their EV5 forms (a paper form to grant permission alongside key medical information) and must be back by this Friday 10/03/2017

Return: 3:45pm (depending on traffic)

North Lanarkshire Challenge

On Wednesday the S1 After School Group gave an informative interactive talk on the dangers of smoking and E-cigarettes. The pupils delivered their presentation with confidence and should be very proud of themselves.

The group have also completed the ‘Skill’ section which was on singing and music techniques and are currently working towards the ‘Service’ section.
Well done to group members- Paul McGuinness, Caitlin McInally, Callan Hay, Tommy Boylan, Emily Murray, Jack Moxen and Jack Meechan.

S6 REMINDER FOR HOODIES PAYMENT

The last day for handing in monies for hoodies is next Friday, 3rd March. The yearbook team need the money up front before they can process the order. Can you make sure you give your total to the House Captains who are dealing with this before 3pm on the 3rd March!!!

CNHS@Work 2017

A Huge thank you goes out to all our visitors and senior pupils’ involved in the CNHS@Work event where the whole S3 cohort got to speak to a whole range of employers, occupations, entrepreneurs and senior pupils balancing school work and part-time work.

The main focus of the event was to engage pupils with a range of occupations and career pathways, remembering that whilst only at the school for a short time they will be in the labour market for about 50 years!!
