Loudoun-Montgomery Primary School is located in the Fullarton Area of Irvine on the west side of the River Irvine. It is the centre of a close knit community which is impacted significantly from high unemployment and significant economic challenges. 86% of the pupils live within SIMD 1 and 2 with 81% living within SIMD 1.
The school community were consulted and we have shared values, a shared vision and shared aims.
Our Values:
RESPECT, INCLUSION & ACHIEVEMENT
Our Vision
In partnership with our school community, our vision is to give every learner a high quality learning experience, which meets their needs in a nurturing environment, and offers them personalised support to allow them to reach their full potential.
Our Aims
- Everyone to encourage achievement, respect and inclusion and to share these core values within our school community
- Everyone to promote positive partnerships between the school, parents, carers and the wider community
- Everyone to provide a high quality education for every learner within a caring, supportive and nurturing environment.
- Everyone to equip all learners with the skills, attitudes and expectations which are required to succeed in an ever changing society.
The most significant challenges for our pupils can be their readiness to learn and therefore we seek to ensure their Health and Wellbeing is at the heart of our curriculum. We have procedures in place to safeguard our children and provide sensitive support.
We are committed to providing a curriculum which includes the four contexts for learning.
Every child has the opportunity to experience a progressive programme in all eight curricular areas. Staff are guided with high level planning frameworks, which allows them to plan to meet the needs of each class, group and individual pupil. All pupils will also participate in interdisciplinary learning and will have access to the outdoors and the local community on a regular basis.
Every pupil will be given opportunities for personal achievement through a range of opportunities and planned learning experiences. This is an improvement priority and pupils will be supported to recognise their achievements, celebrate them and identify the next steps in their learning. Pupils will be encouraged to embrace leadership opportunities and as part of the development we will seek recognition for pupil achievements.
Staff will be guided by National and Local guidance and use a wealth of assessment data to select the appropriate programmes for pupils. Formative assessment will be an integral part of the learning, teaching and assessment process.
The curriculum offered by class teachers and the school as a whole will be underpinned by the seven design principles of Progression, Personalisation and Choice, Challenge, Enjoyment, Depth Relevance and Coherence.
An integral part of the curriculum is to prepare our learners for the many transitions they will experience, within and out with school. This includes building resilience and perseverance.
In addition, an essential element is developing skills for learning, life and work, to promote the aspirations of our learners. This is included in class activities and through the involvement of business and community partners.
