Personalisation and Choice

In Loudoun-Montgomery PS and EY the opinions of our children are pivotal to them leading their own learning.

In the infant area, children are encouraged to choose from a variety of activities as part of the afternoon curriculum.  Classes choose their own challenges to extend the learning opportunities they experience and at every opportunity, the teachers plan their topic work in conjunction with what the children want to learn and find out about.  Primary 2 recently went out and about in the local area to further develop their knowledge and understanding.

Primary 7 used an app to cast their class vote which then determined the novel they chose to study.

Children in Primary 4 to Primary 7 participate in weekly Community Groups which focus on a particular aspect of school life.  Children communicate their views and take forward the school and its community through development work in the following groups:

  • Citizens of the World
  • Our Local Community
  • Cooking
  • Fairtrade
  • Reading
  • Health and Wellbeing
