Haysholm School will be featured as West FM’s school of the week beginning 7th December. Pupil representatives from all of the classes met with Frenchie to make a recording for the radio station. They used switches, pictures and spoken language to introduce themselves and tell a joke. Listen out for their recordings week beginning the 7th December at 8.30am to 8.40 am and 3.30 pm to 3.40 pm.

Sponsor Money
Thank you to all those who sponsored Stuart Cooper recently. The grand total raised is £455, what a fantastic amount.
Children in Need fundraiser
Everyone looked fantastic in their Super hero costumes to raise money for Children in Need. We managed to raise a grand total of £44.
As we have had to cancel our check in on a Monday due to inclusion links, we tried a ‘Check out’ to say Goodbye at the end of the week together as a school community.
Christmas Shopping Evening
Thank you to all who turned up at our Christmas shopping evening despite the damp, wet, windy weather!!!!! A massive £685.26 was raised on the evening and then a donation was received from Maureen Hulbert to take the total to £700. Thank you to everyone especially to the Parent Council who organised and led the event.
Head Teacher Awards

Respected and Responsible
It was Skye’s class turn to present assembly this week. It followed Mrs Mair’s introduction to Remembrance day last week where classes watched youtube clip of “The Last Post” and looked at photographs and symbols helping them to learn about the day, date and images that represent Remembrance. Classes were given traditional field poppies to plant in pots to mark Remembrance. The flowers will be planted in the memorial area to mark Remembrance each year.
Skye class learners used switches to participate in their assembly and L M did a very good job of helping to collect everybody’s £1’s for poppies to wear. RB scattered red petals and a big poppy was displayed showing the words: love, hope, peace, freedom and respect. All pupils enjoyed watching a very short youtube clip from Poppy Scotland.
On the 11th, all classes assembled to mark the 2 minute silence together.
Well done Skye Class.
Thank You!
Makaton
As part of our Quality Improvement, we have formed a Total Communication Working Party, committed to promoting the use of Makaton signing throughout the school.
The monthly display is based on current events or themes that are relevant to our pupils. Each class will select one or more to focus on. Staff will continue to develop their core vocabulary to ensure consistency throughout.
November’s board is centred on lunchtime, featuring signs for touch, smell and taste.
December’s board will of course have a Christmas theme.
