What a fantastic way to end the school term.  Thank you to Mrs Moncrieff who organised a fabulous party this morning and to our very special guest ‘Santa’ who took time out of his very busy schedule to deliver presents to both the pupils and the staff.

The whole school attended St Mary’s Church in Irvine yesterday for our Christmas Service.  We are trying to help our children and young people become more comfortable and familiar with the Church as this is where we will hold our 40th Service  on January 26th.  At the end of the service, special Christmas certificates were awarded to  learners from each class for effort and engagement in learning.  Thank you to those parents and carers who joined with us.  Can I take this opportunity to thank all parents/carers for their continued support to the school and wish everyone a very happy, peaceful and healthy Christmas.

Muirfield

The Seniors set up the tables for our Christmas lunch today.  The place looked very festive.  We all wore our Christmas jumpers and enjoyed listening to Christmas music whilst eating lunch and raising lots of cash for kids.

The Pupil Council led a special whole school assembly focussing on the Rights of the Child on Tuesday 8th December.  Everyone had a special job to do during the assembly including introducing the hymns to be sung.  All classes enjoyed the UNICEF you tube video clip and the very catchy tune of “We’ve all got rights”.  Our Rights Respecting Schools noticeboard has been updated and Mrs Bennett has distributed a questionnaire for staff to fill out.

Well done to GM, GF, SC and PL who all achieved Head Teacher awards this week.

GM – For making a healthy choice at lunch time

GF – For participating in a sleepover with his IMPACCT carer

SC – For being very well behaved in the dentist and for singing nursery rhymes at home

PL – For swimming 3 lengths non-stop without the use of flotation aids.

Everyone was really pleased with their certificates.  Thank you to our parents/carers for keeping us informed of achievements that are happening at home and please remember to keep telling us so we can reward all successes.

The Makaton signs for December centre around Christmas.

We are focussing on the sign for Jesus, Angel, Santa, Christmas tree and other related words.  Staff are learning key words to sign from Christmas carols that will be sung at our yearly Christmas Service.

Christmas 2015

What a fantastic morning we had at our yearly Christmas fayre.  During November all of the classes participated in enterprise activities developing a range of skills and producing some fantastic goodies to sell at the fayre.  The afternoon before all of the seniors participated in helping to set up the tables and organise their goodies to sell.  The link above is a slideshow of all of the learners participating in their chosen enterprise tasks.  Thank you to everyone who turned up to support our event despite the miserable weather.  We very much appreciate it.
