At Wellpark Nursery, we are proud to introduce our equalities agenda – “Wellpark World”, which celebrates the wonderful diversity within our nursery community. Our local demographic has changed, and we now have families from many different countries and backgrounds. We believe it is important that children first develop a strong sense of who they are, their own culture, and the country they live in, while also learning to appreciate and respect the wider world around them. Our vision is rooted in kindness, and through this value, we encourage children to treat everyone with care, respect, and understanding.

Through Wellpark World, children learn that although we may look different or come from different places, we share many similarities too. We explore a wide range of cultures by learning about traditional dress, foods, music, and celebrations. Children have opportunities to try different foods, read stories featuring characters from around the world, and take part in creative experiences that help them appreciate diversity in a fun and meaningful way.

We also celebrate a variety of cultural events throughout the year, including Easter, Christmas, St Andrew’s Day, Ramadan, Diwali, and Chinese New Year. These celebrations allow children to see how different traditions are expressed and valued while reinforcing our belief that every culture contributes something special to our community. By learning about others while feeling proud of their own heritage, children at Wellpark develop empathy, respect, and a sense of belonging — important foundations for growing up in a kind and inclusive world.
