Transition Visits

Transitions can be a difficult time for children. In preparation for starting school children visit St Patrick’s Primary School throughout the year. They visit P6 and develop relationships with the children who will become their buddies.

They get to know what a school looks like. This helps children be more confident when it becomes time to start school themselves.

After January the children take part in joint projects with their buddies and their friends in P1. All of these experiences help make the transition from nursery to Primary much easier.

Children who are not moving on to St Patrick’s will have opportunities to visit a school and take part in transition work after the New year. Staff begin transition work with all school in October
