AULD YINS AND WEE YINS

Auld Yins & Wee Yins is our intergenerational learning project. When our generations connect, something magical happens.

Using an intergenerational approach, we can bridge this gap by bringing together older and younger generations. We can give our children and adults the chance to develop new relationships with people of a different generation

Children taking part in intergenerational projects benefit in many ways. Many children today have no grandparents and/or no contact with older people. Some who have grandparents may not have regular personal contact, as they don’t live nearby.

Every week we visit our friends at the local community hub. We learn about a different piece of equipment they need like wheelchairs and take part in games, arts, singing and have a lot of fun.

There are so many positive outcomes for the children. They learn respect, develop a caring, nurturing ethos and understand the importance of caring for the people in their community. This project improves their language development, physical skills and overall wellbeing through having the opportunity to be in different environments with different types of people in our community.
