In S1-S2, pupils have 3 periods of PE per week. Our department focus on facilitating holistic development with all learning promoting physical, mental, emotional and social well-being. Pupils will engage in a diverse range of activities during PE, with activities rotating in 4-week blocks. Such activities include; badminton, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, handball, football, athletics, fitness. Personalisation and choice is embedded through our curriculum with pupils being offered a choice option provided progress is attained and effort levels remain high during blocks.

The BGE course in S3 follows an introduction to National route and S3 pupils receive  2 periods of PE per week. Pupils will engage in and build upon skills and knowledge from activities learned in prior years. However, there will be emphasis on beginning to embrace National content. This academic year allows pupils to gain insight into certificated PE, whilst enhances knowledge and understanding for upcoming years.

S3 Dance Leaders

S6 Sports Leaders

In S6, pupils can select to study the SQA Leadership Award in a sports context.  This is an S6-only course and is at SCQF Level 6.

Pupils undertaking a qualification in Sports Leadership will learn and demonstrate important life skills such as effective communication and organisation whilst learning to lead basic physical activities to younger people, their peers, older generations and within the community. The sessions use sport to educate pupils on how to deliver fun and engaging physical activities with other students and within the community. Students will plan, lead and evaluate sessions over a number of hours and then demonstrate their leadership skills as part of their assessment.
