Child Protection

Inverclyde Council Education Services has Child Protection Guidelines and Procedures which all schools are required to follow. Education Services work very closely with other agencies namely Social Work Services, Strathclyde Police, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the Children’s Reporter to support children.

Common duties of all staff are to protect children from abuse and exploitation and to respond appropriately when abuse is identified. It is also our responsibility to ensure that all children are able to exercise their right to grow up in a caring, stimulating and safe environment with the support of staff, their families and carers.

Protecting Children in Inverclyde

Services to protect children in Inverclyde have been found to be amongst the best in Scotland with an independent inspection published in 2011 finding that “children and families have supportive relationships and very high levels of trust and confidence in staff.” Inverclyde Child Protection Committee is committed to maintaining these high standards and improving outcomes for children even further. The Committee is pleased to publish its annual report for 2010-11 which can be downloaded from:- www.inverclydechildprotection.org
