The N3 course is all internally assessed and consists of the following:
Composing Skills
Create original music by:
- Experimenting and using simple concepts and methods in imaginative ways to develop and create original music.
- Reflecting on the music produced.
Performing Skills
- Perform music in a range of music styles by:
- Play two sections of music at Grade 1/N3 level, showing an
- understanding of the composers’ intentions.
- Identifying strengths and areas for improvement in own performances.
Understanding Music
Recognise and identify simple music concepts and styles by:
- Identifying simple N3 music concepts in excerpts of music.
- Identifying and recognising the distinctive instrumental and/or vocal
- groupings used in music styles.
- Understanding the meaning of simple music signs, symbols and
- terms (N3 literacy).
