Helping support ASN needs with digital resources

Many children have specific learning needs which can be supported with the use of appropriate digital resources and devices. Inverclyde schools work closely with parents to identify the right resources where required.

We also work with various partners to support our learners. One such group is CALL Scotland.   This group helpfully offer advice around a range of additional support needs to schools.

Overview of Support Needs that Call Scotland can advise on:
Autism Spectrum Disorders
Communication Support Needs
Dyslexia
Physical Support Needs
Severe and Complex Needs
Visual Impairment

The information can be found on the Call Scotland website.

Teachers have been responding to changes in the many Microsoft office 365 Applications which come with Glow.  One such change has been the inclusion of the immersive reader into our set of learning and teaching tools. this is a very powerful tool to support children’s learning.  More details can be found at the Call Scotland Website’s Immersive Reader page.

Teachers also make use of specific symbols to support aspects of additional support needs. These are freely available to parents to use at home too and can be found at the Symbols For All website.
