Skills for Learning, Life and Work

We are concentrating on developing our Skills for Learning, Life and Work. Each week we add to our ‘Toolbox of Skills’ by focusing on a different skill and identifying ways to use it in order to improve our learning.

One of our first tasks in Primary 6 was the writing and delivery of our Vice Captain speeches. We learned about the powers of persuasion so that we might convince the school of our suitability for the role. The candidates all believed they were the best person for the job. Our speeches were delivered with confidence and flair whilst providing the school audience with brilliant reasons as to why they should vote for us.

Primary 6 provides us with opportunities to develop our leadership skills and take on different responsibilities. After applying for membership of various groups such as; GIRFEC Champions, Promoting Positive Relationships, JRSO, Pastoral Care, Journalists, Global Citizens and Fit4Life, we were allocated our roles and they are keeping us very busy!

  1. Your blog is fantastic P 6. -and what an amazing teacher Mrs Falconer is to enable you to create it ! What an interesting way to learn and share your information. I love the article about Skills – as you have already learned developing skills you need for your life in the future is so important-and everyone has different ones to share to work well together. I don’t know if you can make requests , but I’d love to know what your views are on learning languages from Pl -which you’ve already begun in GPS . I am working on this Scottish Government Strategy called 1+2 and would like to how you think learning languages fits with the curriculum in Primary School.
Keep on blogging -I love it !!

  2. Thank you for your kind comment, Mrs Cannon! We are thrilled that you have enjoyed looking through our blog! We will be sure to update you of our language learning soon! (We are currently learning the French alphabet and spelling different classroom objects!) Until then, please feel free to pop by and let us know your thoughts on our learning!
