We were making an electricity pylon design.
We used different material to design the pylon.
We tired to make it 3d so that it would stand up.
For a topic we did energy and we made pylons which took us a short time, it was fun to do. While we were doing it we were wearing superhero costume’s for Pudsey day. Then we displayed them outside so people could have a look at them. Then the next 2 weeks we took them home.
Last year, for a topic on Energy, we made electricity pylons out of paper rods and glue. We were going to have a ‘wind resistance’ test where we were going to put the ‘pylons’ in front of a fan and the ‘pylon’ that took the longest time to fall down would have won, but we never got round to it.1 We were dressed in superhero costumes while we were doing it as it was a Pudsey charity event(SOS). They took a very long time but were worth it for the end result, which was very good.
They were making electricity pylons with art straws and glue. It was a design challenge for there energy topic.
We have been learning about brackets and reordering, it’s quite difficult to start with, but then it becomes easier. The easy part is copying the sum down. We have also been learning about partitioning, where we were putting numbers into hundreds, tens and units. We have been using brackets to help us show our thinking. We learned about the ‘commutative law’, which means that addition and multiplication sums can be switched around and the answer will be the same. #Bestatbeingbeyondbrilliant
Our class have been making Word Clouds about the Syrian crisis. We have used Newsround and BBC News to find information and create these beautiful pieces of art! We’ve been thinking about what it would be like if we were a child in the war. Learning about the plight has taught us empathy and we find this topic very interesting.
At Kindrogan on the first day we went to school for an hour. It was a horrible wait but once we left it was great. When we first got there we put our bags in the common room and went outside to have our lunch on the lawn. We then done some team building exercises and after the team building exercises we got our bags and suit cases and took them up to our room. We had about 45 mins In our rooms and after that we went down for tea. For tea it was some lasagne with sweet corn and for desert it was apple and cinnamon crumble. Then we went up to our rooms to get changed for the nights activity and it was orienteering. The midges were everywhere. After the night activity we had 1 hour until we had to stay in our rooms, so we went into our rooms at 9 o’clock and we had a hour in our rooms before it was lights out and we went to sleep.
That was our first day.
World War 2
We were working in our Critical Skills Groups, my group was called ‘The Bombers’. Our Timelines needed to have eight significant events from WW2. We had to complete our Timelines by 15.9.15. We read topic books and used our GLOW page to research our significant events. We each had a role, I was the Quality Checker and LC was the Materials Manager.
We discovered many facts about WW2 including ..
We are now writing Newspaper Reports about WW2 and learning about the Allies and the Axis countries during WW2.
It has been great fun so far and we are hoping to learn lots more. We hope you enjoy looking at our photos.
