Who has achieved having his name on a bus

Leading our Learning

Recently, the Student Media Team held their first meeting to discuss what we will be getting up to this term.

Learning to lead the meeting was an important skill as you never know what you might encounter when working with a large group of people. It helped us learn to respond properly to other people giving their views and opinions and at times, talking over one another!

We both volunteered to chair the meeting and we had the job of planning ahead and ensuring the agenda was ready and then typing up the minutes afterwards. We knew it would be important to encourage and include everyone’s ideas.

Skills we developed:

  • Planning the meeting
  • Encouraging ideas
  • Making decisions
  • Using our initiative
  • Effective communication
  • Problem solving

These skills will be really useful because many people have to participate in meetings at some point in their lives and many of us will on a regular basis in our future careers.

Everyone included in the meeting was using their talking and listening skills to participate effectively and contribute their ideas and suggestions.  We worked cooperatively to create good questions we might want to ask the classes when we go round to gather information for the school newspaper ‘The Gourock Gossip’.

Mrs Falconer was really impressed at how the whole group conducted themselves and we think this picture shows just how focused we were on the task!

We are P6/7, with ages nine to eleven.

A is for Andrew, a boy who loves fishing.

C is for Chelsie, a girl who loves One Direction and Christopher, a boy who loves to sumo-wrestle!

D is for David who likes to travel on the underground and Dylan, a boy who loves motorbikes.

F is for friendship and fun.

H is for Hannah, a girl who loves kiwi.

I is for intelligence, which we all possess.

J is for Jill, an extremely musical girl, and Jamie, a boy who loves to swim.

L is for Liam and Lennon, who both love playing football.

M is for good manners, which we show in class.

N is for Nikki, a girl who loves guitar, and Nathan who loves youtube.

O is for Olivia, a girl who loves to dance.

P is for Mrs Pagan who helps us all the time.

Q is for quarrels, which we always try to avoid.

R is for responsibility and respect we show to all.

S is for Shelby, a girl who likes football. Sophie likes her toffee and Scott loves jumping and climbing.

T is for Tegan, a girl who loves art.

U is for united, which we are in our school.

V is for victorious which we feel when we use VCOP.

W is for WALK A MILE Monday which we do to keep us fit.

X is for the eXcellent work which we all try to produce.

Y is for Mrs Young, who makes the learning fun.

Z is for the Zzzzzz’s we sleep once our learning’s done!
