The exciting pilot of the Academy9 Ground Breaking Apprentice Academy will be run from 19th to 21st April 2017 at Grantown Grammar School. It is a collaborative event between Grantown Grammar and Kingussie High School. It is a unique opportunity for S2 and S3 students to take part in an interactive series of activities designed to up-skill them and develop their awareness of career opportunities in STEM related industries. Apprenticeship Academy
The Academy9 team will be up in Grantown Grammar on 28th-30th May to run our 2.5 day Apprenticeship Academy. Pupils will carry out workshops on risk resolution, road surveying, the environment and structures. They will then take their new knowledge from the workshops to complete a mega challenge – to build a bridge over a 3D landscape. The final challenge will be to see who’s team created the strongest bridge!
Town Planning Workshop
World Town Planning Day takes place on 8th November each year. In the run up to this, Academy9 run a four-week learning experience for S1 pupils where they learn about the role of a town planner and how to use ArcGIS to develop their own towns, using the same software as the professionals! On 1st October the Academy9 team will do the first of these workshops at Grantown Grammar School.
Town Planning – GIS Workshop
Academy9 team will be visiting Grantown Grammar to carry out a town planning workshop using ArcGIS, a geographical information system. Pupils need to take into account different land uses to decide what will be included in their town then they will plot it using the ArcGIS web app. Judging ceremony will follow on 1st November!

Town Planning Judging Ceremony
Academy9 has supported the Grantown Grammar geography teacher in delivering a series of town planning workshops, including using industry standard GIS software. Today is the judging ceremony where our industry expert town planners and GIS specialists will judge the pupils towns. Gateway
The Academy9 team will be up in Grantown Grammar today delivering our Gateway event to the P5’s with support from the S3’s. Pupils will learn about safety, team work, ppe, environment and much more, in relation to the A9 dualling project.
