Keep Your Class Safer this Winter with our Academy9 Winter Roads Resources

In the UK our weather never fails to be changeable and our current cold snap is no exception.

To link the current weather in with your lesson planning, we wanted to share our new Winter Roads resources.

Developed in line with Second and Third level Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) outcomes, we have created a series of short lessons within the context of winter road conditions.

With clear learning intentions, success criteria and step by step instructions throughout; these easy-to-use resources will enable discussions on health and wellbeing specific to this time of year as well as developing literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills.

All aimed at CfE Second and Third level outcomes, the following lessons could be the perfect addition to your lesson plans on the run up to Christmas or following the return after the New Year.

  • Winter Road Maintenance – Learn about adverse weather conditions and how local authorities work to keep roads open during winter months.
  • The Case of the Missing Gritter – Develop skills in numeracy, literacy and problem solving while locating a missing gritter on the A9.
  • Winter Road Safety – How to keep safe when travelling in winter.

At Academy9 we are very passionate about promoting health and safety, especially in the context of Transport and Construction so we hope you will use these resources with your young people to highlight the importance of considering safety in adverse weather conditions and get some important conversations started to help raise awareness.

If you would be willing to share some feedback with us on how you found the Winter Roads resources please do so through the ‘Contact Us’ form below. We would really appreciate it.
