Academy9 brings Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) to Life: Geology, Ecology and Engineering

Are you a Primary level Educator looking for Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) ideas?

With so many careers in STEM there are undoubtably some that are lesser known, especially to Primary School pupils.

The Academy9 project aims to bridge the gap between industry and education by bringing real life professionals into schools to deliver age and stage appropriate learning activities.

We had the pleasure of delivering our Roadshow event to Aviemore and Strathdearn Primary schools this week.

Our Roadshow event takes a deep dive into the daily tasks carried out by a Geologist, an Ecologist and a Civil Engineer. Young people spend 30 minutes working as a professional in each field and apply the knowledge learned to make project decisions. Each session has been carefully designed to fit in with the Curriculum for Excellence, at level two experiences and outcomes, and brings a high impact DYW experience into the classroom.

Exciting News!

We have recently made this event into a digital resource, Roadshow II, that can be delivered by any teaching professional to their class. Full session materials, including videos from our own professionals, give the full Roadshow experience and make it almost feel like the professionals are in the room with you!

Bring this fantastic DYW experience into your classroom now and download the full set of activity resources here.
