Develop your Risk Radar and Discover your Safety Personality Type!

Did you know that every year an average of 3 children in the UK die on construction sites when they enter sites unsupervised? On top of that, between 25-50 children suffer life-altering injuries.

It is never safe to enter a construction site unless supervised by a trained professional.

However, there is risk involved in every activity and some may be riskier than others.

That’s why it’s important to learn about risks and mitigations (how you reduce risks) to develop your own ‘Risk Radar’. A well-developed risk radar can help keep you and those around you safe from potential harm.

There is not one career we can think of that does not involve aspects of Health and Safety, making it an essential area of knowledge for your future career too.

Why not start off your journey into the world of Health and Safety by taking our safety personality type quiz? The below quiz will help you learn how you currently approach risky situations and start you on your journey to developing your own risk radar.

The Academy9 team have been delivering our online Risk Radar event to our partnership schools.

We have had the pleasure of working with the Strathdearn and Grantown Primary 6 classes over the last few weeks and look forward to working with Aviemore and Daviot Primaries in the coming weeks.

Over the course of a series of three sessions, young people work collaboratively to identify risks in given situations, both on and off a construction site, and learn of mitigations that can be used to minimise these risks.

All sessions are delivered via Microsoft Teams and make use of Google Jamboards to enable the collaboration between young people and industry professionals, making it easy for anyone to get their classes involved.

Teachers, if you would like to sign up to a future online Risk Radar event please contact us. We would love to work with you and your school.
