Festival of the sea writing competition – win £90 Calmac vouchers!

 

Calling all budding writers! Festival of the Sea has a writing competition open to all ages, including school children and adults! The theme is “What will future archaeologists say about our time?”  Primary 1-4 are asked to write a poem, Primary 5-S2 the lyric of a song, S3-S6 and adults to write a short story on the theme of around 1,000 words.

Closing Date Friday 18th May.

 Prizes include:

•             £90 in Calmac vouchers!

•             Historic Environment Scotland family membership!

•             £30 voucher for Sealife Adventures Oban!

•             Books from Kilmartin House Museum!

•             Viking necklaces!

There will be readings and adjudications at the Festival itself which will be held on Saturday and Sunday 26/27th May at the Ocean Explorer Centre 11.30 – 16.30. Our family-friendly event will explore the impact of 21st century living on the marine environment and what this may mean for future human generations. Oban scientists will share the latest insights into human impacts on the marine ecosystem, locals and artists will exhibit their creative responses and entrepreneurs showcase latest technological solutions. And you can even visit the Historic Environment Scotland Viking Invasions event being held on the same weekend next door at Dunstaffnage Castle.
