Adjectives and More Money
This week P2b have been learning how to add more amazing adjectives into their sentences to make their writing even better. This is allowing them to write even better setting descriptions than before. The boys and girls have also been learning how to add amounts of money within £1. Well done boys and girls.
An exciting week in P1c
This week the class have been working very hard all week. We started a new topic of NHS with a focus on people who can help us. All the children were able to show what to do in an emergency through our role play lesson. The children have engaged so well with our playroom room activities especially role play where they all got to work in a hospital and medical centre. In maths we have been learning to read time to the o’clock and learning how to collect and display data on a bar graph. In literacy we have had a focus on reading and writing CVC words with our phonics boards. The children were fantastic and loved to challenge themselves to make sentences. One of the children’s favourite part of this week was our visit from ZooLab. The children got to meet some new creepy crawlies and some of the class even felt brave enough to hold a snake, cockroach and giant snail. As always I am incredibly proud of all of the children, well done P1C!

Primary 2a
One month back to school and primary 2a have been extremely busy.
in maths and numeracy we learned a little more about time working with digital and analog clocks. We moved on to some tricky 2 digit addition and subtracting which the class were absolutely amazing at. Yesterday we started learning about money, something we are all very excited about.
We have continued to work through our spelling programme using magnetic boards to help us make and manipulate different sounds and words. Last week we even learned about our first difficult trigraph ‘igh’.
In writing we have started ‘Setting’ writing. So far the class has described their school, created their own dream school and dream park, using loads of amazing adjectives and challenging ourselves to extend our sentences with connectives.
In the playroom we have been learning about space and robots which the kids absolutely loved. They pretended to be astronauts in the role play area, built spaceships and robots in the construction area and made their own jet packs with junk modelling. We are now learning about the NHS.
Last week we also had our first Rugby session, we played loads of team races and learned about passing in Rugby.

P3a Update
P3a began the week creating a collaborative picture of Rabbie Burns which is now on our class door and has been getting lots of positive comments.
In maths we were learning to tell the time on both digital and analogue clocks. We can now tell o’clock, quarter past and half past times. We also had a look at identifying am and pm times.
In writing we began recount writing and wrote about our day off due to the storm. We will continue with recount writing for the next few weeks.
As it was Chinese New Year we learned the story of Nian and about the different traditions that people follow when they celebrate. We then looked to see what animal we were according to the Chinese calendar and discussed if we shared any of the animals traits.
Play in p1b
P1b enjoyed another week of learning about Space. They enjoyed building rockets using 3D shapes, describing space and constructing robots.

Space exploration
Primary 1 have continued to explore space and talked about what they would need to take with them. They have written about what it would look and feel like as we look at descriptive settings.
We have continued to develop or subtraction skills and are able name, sort and discuss the properties of 2d and 3d shape.
We are working on our common words to help with improving our independent writing skills so please help your child by practising the words provided for homework.
Also please make sure that reading books are brought to school every day so that we can read together in class.
P4a’s Weekly Update
P4a have had a busy week! In maths, we explored different division strategies and practised telling the time. In literacy, we learned how to distinguish between fact and opinion, and in writing, we created detailed instructions.
As part of our topic work, we discovered Scottish inventors and famous landmarks. We also explored the Scots language and even had a go at writing a paragraph about ourselves in Scots – it was great fun!

P5a’s week
Another busy week in p5a! We have been exploring fractions in maths, this week we were using our knowledge of common factors and division to simplify fractions, we thought it would be really hard but when we practiced we could do it!
we took part in a competition to promote ‘walking to school’ and designed our own badges. We also took part in another competition for improving our local green spaces. We were very creative with our fabulous designs!
In literacy we think we are improving our reading skills and we also produced some great writing when presenting our balanced arguments!
We have begun working in our RME Showcase and our songs are already sounding amazing! We can’t wait for you to see all our hard work.
We ended the week, by starting our next block of committees, where we have set out lots of things to achieve this term.
