A good start to term 4

This term we started thinking about sustainability with lessons from Donald. He helped us understand the great environment we have to develop at Wallacewell Primary. With his help and guidance we had great fun helping to create a bug hotel.

We have started the term with enthusiasm! This week P5a enjoyed participating in the community clean up. Everyone got involved in picking up the litter around the school and made positive contributions towards planning how we could promote a clean environment in and around the school.

P5a started planting on Friday. We have planted salad vegetables and plants.
I think the first week of term 4 has been a great start!

Completing our Space topic

Last week P5a finished their space topic by studying images of the International Space Station and then creating their own version of the interior. They worked in small groups. Here are some of their creations.

Success at orienteering!

Primary 5 pupils have been learning about orienteering within the school grounds. The lessons included learning about grid references, reading compass point and following different maps. The winners from each class had their photograph taken holding a carabiner donated by Blairvadach Outdoor Centre to celebrate their 50 year anniversary. Everyone enjoyed the learning outdoors.

A very wet week!

As usual P5a have been working very hard this cold week. Despite the chilly conditions we were able to practise our skills about perimeter in the playground. A great way to enjoy learning!

Today we completed our Space topic and everyone was able to show their work.
Next week weather permitting we will start to plant some seeds in the plots behind the P5 classrooms.🤞

JRSO update

On Tuesday 12th of March Ollie and Rosie traveled to the City Chambers to make a film about road safety around Wallacewell Primary. They had a great experience learning about the task of making a film and all the jobs associated with creating images for a film. The next task is to share their video with the school.

All in a good week

This week, P5 went outside to learn about reading grid maps and this time we added using a compass. Everyone enjoyed the learning even in the rain! ☔️ Next week we have planned to include the pitch with the maps, weather permitting!
The road safety team came to Wallacewell and we all enjoyed a quiz! These lucky 4 are the winning team.

On Tuesday 2 pupils from P5a went to the CIty Chambers to make a movie about road safety around the school. The whole class had supported and contributed to their script and film.

Well done Rosie and Ollie

JRSO film crew

The P5 JRSO have been very busy this term making a road safety film. Ollie and Rosie-Joy have written the script, chosen the “actors” and organised all the photographs they need to make this short film. Wish them luck as they travel to the City Chambers on Tuesday 12th of March to  finalise their work.

What a week!

This has certainly been a very interesting week. On Tuesday primary 5 received their first coaching experience from the Rangers Team. Everyone enjoyed and learned from the experience.  World Book Day on Thursday was a fantastic opportunity to share our thoughts and experiences around reading books 📚.
Although it was a cold day P5 took part in an orienteering lesson outside to learn around coordinates. I think it was a great success and weather permitting we will continue with this next Friday

.

This week the JRSO members have been very busy, writing a script for a film they are going to make about road safety around our school. At the moment it is all at the planning stage.

Diversity Day

Today primary 5 took part in many activities to celebrate our similarities and differences. The children participated in any discussions and tasks. Here are some photographs of the work that they produced today.
