Here is an update on our term 2 events. Dates and times may be subject to change.

• Parent Council

Our Parent Council have donated money towards a very large catering set for our whole school. Thank you very much, this will be used regularly while hosting events like Ladies Lunch, charity days and many more. This has been talked about for years as we spend so much on disposable ware. Next Parent Council meeting is on Wednesday 8th November at 5 – 6.30pm. Please come along if you wish to join.

• Families Connect

Our Primary 2 Families Connect Group has been very successful.  Today we visited Square Cafe and the library , our numeracy session on the 31st October and then our final session will be in Wonder world on Tuesday 7th November.   Thank you to all taking part.

In January 2024 we will begin Families Connect for Primary 1 parents/carers & children.

• New Entrants for August 2024 Parent/Carer Coffee morning on Friday 27th October 2023.
• There is a further open visit for parents/carers & children on Friday 3rd November @ 10.30 – 11.30am & 1.30 – 2.30pm 

We would like to invite all parents/carers in our community who has a child/ren ready for enrolment in August 2024 to attend our coffee morning/afternoon. There will be a tour of our school, an opportunity to view Primary 1 ‘in action’ and information about the benefits of enrolling your child in St Albert’s.

• ‘God’s Loving Plan’ health education information session for P6 & P7 parents’/Carers’ – Wednesday 1st November @ 2pm in room 10

All parents who have children in P6, P6/7 and P7 are invited to come along to find out more about our health education programme. This is very important to help us plan our lessons.

• Halloween Party – Tuesday 31^st October @ 5 – 6.30pm

Tickets are on sale from the office at £3, this includes Juice/water, crisps & chocolate/fruit, cakes
Recycled Halloween costumes will be available for collection at the front door. Feel free to leave any outgrown costumes for someone else to enjoy. Thank you!

Our Primary 2 Families Connect Group has been very successful. Tomorrow we will look at writing & creating stories… We will visit square cafe and the library on Tuesday 24th October, our numeracy session on the 31st October and then our final session will be in Wonder world on Tuesday 7th November.   Thank you to all taking part.

In January 2024 we will begin Families Connect for Primary 1 parents/carers & children.

I’m delighted to say all your lovely children have settled into school well and the learning and fun has begun.

I am sure I have met nearly all families by now but if I haven’t I am Karen Kelly, Principal Teacher in Infants (P1 – P3) & our school’s Family Learning Coordinator. I work on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday and I’m available to answer any questions etc on those days. As part of our current Eco School’s journey (2021-2023)and our work on the Eco School’s  Transport topic, our Eco Committee has been working with Miss Brooks, Mrs Kelly, our Parent Council and Lorna Young (NRS) to start a walking bus at our school. We wanted to start a walking bus to cut the numbers of cars parking outside our school every day, which adds to local air pollution. We really want our pupils to walk or cycle to school or take public transport as these methods of transport are much better for the environment, the safety of our pupils on the roads and the children’s health.

Earlier in the year, we applied for a grant to get some all weather clothing for the children and adults to use in poor weather on the walking bus and we achieved this. Our parents agreed to start the walking bus on one day per week and last Friday the 19th May, it began. We also ordered a banner to hang on the railings outside our school to inform parents and attract new members for the walking bus.  Our wonderful parents helped to get this initiative off the ground and we are very grateful to them. Here are some photos from  the first day of our walking bus. We hope that many more pupils will join over time and that it can be extended to other days in the week, with more volunteers coming forward.
