Reminder:Term 4 events

Welcome to our final and very busy term. Below are a list of events planned.
Everyone is welcome to attend!!
5th May Walking Bus for Families starts every Friday at 3pm
Aim: To minimise traffic congestion & pollution in and around our school.
          To increase physical exercise for our families.
          To encourage friendships and conversation between families.
Families will meet at the clothes recycling area and walk home together at 3pm.
Route: Please see attached Map.
We will begin our walking bus with only 1 walk home on Fridays for now, aiming for more days next term.
23rd & 24th May Primary 1 (Aug 2023) visit with parents/carers 1.30 – 2.45pm
Parents/Carers of our new Primary 1 children are invited to bring their child for a visit to our school. There will be an information session for parents/carers while your child gets to know their teachers on the Tuesday and another chance for the children to visit without their parents on the Wednesday. Please let others know. Thank you
24th May School Show in Tramway (evening event)
Our pupils have been working hard all year to present our amazing show to celebrate St Albert’s 50th birthday. Tickets will be available from 2nd May from the office. More details to follow
31st May Family Picnic 1 – 3pm
Bring a dish & meet up with other families for our school picnic… More information will follow from your child’s class teacher. 
6th June 50th Exhibition for families and EX pupils 1pm – 3pm
You are all welcome along with EX pupils and members of our community to explore our St Albert’s 50th Celebration Exhibition. You will be taken back in time to 1973, watch out for the cane! Tea & cakes will be available 70’s style.
8th June P7 trip
More details to follow
13th June Sports Day – 1 – 3pm
All families welcome to attend our sport events in the afternoon. As usual there will be food, fun & sun.
14th June Primary 7 School Prom (evening)
More details to follow
15th June Final Assembly for P1 – P6
All welcome to join us for our exciting end of year celebration where every child is celebrated. Time to be confirmed.
16th June Summer Family trip to Heads of Ayr
Information will be available from 2nd May regarding our family trip. Buses have been very hard to organise this year but will be able to offer around 90 seats for parents. Parents are also invited to travel by car. There will be an entry fee & bus charge requested for parents & younger siblings not at school.
More details to follow.
19th June Primary 7 Leavers Assembly
As always Primary 7 will delight us in this tearful performance. Time to be confirmed.
20th June 50th Celebration Mass
Please join us in celebrating St Albert’s 50th Anniversary with Mass followed by tea & cakes. All welcome!

Family Learning Event Dates

Please book some of these events in your diary.

  • South side Housing Association are hosting a meeting here in St Albert’s on Wednesday 23rd March at 2pm to discuss the following.

We are asking people to share their ideas on how to improve the environment around St Andrews Dr/St Andrews Crescent , by telling us of any issues they have with the area, bins, rats etc and then imagining what the areas could be like and what South side Housing Association and the community could do working together to make it happen.

  • Friday 31st March at 1.30pm. Visit from our community Police Officer, Ross.

Ross will be available to discuss any questions, actions you may wish. Road Safety could be a popular topic, please come along. Ross’s last meeting was really good for our school community.

  • Easter Holidays – Friday 31st March at 2.30pm until Monday 17th April
  • Walking Bus Begins – Friday 21st April at 3pm

Please meet at the school at 2.45pm to collect waterproof jackets etc – More information regarding the process and route will follow.

  • Spring Fayre – Saturday 6th May 12 – 4pm. All welcome!

Join us for our Spring Fayre. There will be bouncy castles, stalls, raffles and many more. Please get in contact with our Parent Council for more information or to hire a stall.

Good Afternoon!

So nice to be back at school after taking some leave following a bereavement.

I’m just catching up on things needing done & would be delighted if there was anything you could help me with.

Reminders

 

  • Firstly Thank you to our Parent Council for the amazing coffee afternoon they hosted last Friday. We would like to continue these events once a month instead of Cafe Connect every Friday. If you would like to help please let me know. Also we are looking for guest speakers to speak at the events such as charities, local information, local clubs etc Our next Cafe Connect will be held on Friday 10th March @ 2pm.

 

  • Walking Bus – Our Parent Council are meeting today to begin planning this. The aim is for parents to walk groups of children from certain pick up points in Pollokshields. We will arrange another meeting soon, date to be confirmed. Please attend the meeting if you wish yourself or your child/ren to be involved in this project.

 

  •  Parent/Carer Information Meeting regarding See Saw – Monday 20th March @ 2.15pm. See Saw is our new way to communicate with families to share information about your child’s learning. Please join us to find out more and get this set up on your phone.

 

  • Possible Strike Days – Wednesday 22nd, Thursday 23rd & Friday 24th

 

  • We are 50 International Women’s Day – Wednesday 8th March @ 11.30 To celebrate we are inviting all our ladies to our Annual Ladies Lunch. There will be a buffet provided, games, music, guest speakers & prizes. This is an amazing event, please try to come along & bring your female family/friends. Tickets will be on sale from Monday at £5. If you think you may be able to help with catering, music, games etc please let me know. We are also looking for Inspirational Ladies who wish to share their stories of success. Please contact me!

 

  • Parent/Carer progress discussions – Wednesday 15th March @ 5 – 7pm & Thursday 16th March @ 3.15 – 5.15 Letters will be distributed soon confirming arrangements.

 

  • Religious Celebrations: Please inform the office if your child is Catholic and you wish them to receive Catholic sacraments. Thank you

 

  • Reminder: If your child has an ipad at home, this should be brought to school daily to assist learning in class.

Events this week

Good Morning!

Apologies for the short notice however we have a very important event this week that will help you with our digital society and keeping our children safe.

Please attend if you can. 

Our Community Police Officer (Mark) will host an information sessions for all parents/carers on Digital Safety on Thursday 2nd February @ 2pm. Don’t worry if you are later, this is vital information to keep your child safe on the internet.

50th Celebration Events

Happy New Year to Everyone!

I wanted to share a few events we have coming up to celebrate St Albert’s 50th Anniversary.

Annual Art Exhibition – Wednesday 18th January @ 9.30 – 11am – This year we are focusing on everything ’50’ so be prepared for your child on the hunt for things from the past! Tea will be available from 9am in the hall before the exhibition begins.

St Albert’s 50th Celebratory Mass – Friday 20th January @ 10am in St Albert’s Church – Our whole school will visit & be involved in our Mass. All of our families & community are invited to attend.

We are 50 International Women’s Day – Ladies Lunch in hall. Wednesday 8th March from 11.30am. More details to follow.

Public & Former Pupil Exhibition with refreshments – Thursday 11th May More details to follow

70’s themed family evening – Wednesday 31st May. More details to follow.

50th Celebration School Performance – Wednesday 14th & Thursday 15th June Details to follow

Mass of Thanksgiving – Tuesday 20th June Details to follow

Reminders

Friday 2nd December @ 2pm

Meeting for parents/carers with our Community Police Inspector  Cennydd Smith.

Inspector Smith will have an informal chat about hate crime in general, the importance of reporting it, the ways it could be reported, what happens when you report a crime and the processes they have that mean they take it very seriously.  And of course just a general chat about anything you may want to speak about.

He will also ask along the Scottish Police Muslim Association who will be able to speak about their own experiences.

This is open to all parents/carers. I hope you can make it along.

Thursday 8th December is Christmas Jumper Day..

Please hand in used Xmas jumpers from Monday for recycling. They will be displayed at front door for everyone to collect! Try not to buy new.. create one yourself or use a recycled one please!!!

Christmas Fayre on Friday 9th December @ 9.15am

Your children will inform you soon of what stall their class is running & what is needed.

Information from office will be shared via email (Please check your junk mail too). Texts will be sent ONLY if there are last minute changes.

Class teachers will share learning every Friday through their class blog which can be found on our school web site. You will be able to ask questions in the comment box and teachers will reply. We will no longer use Teams.

Home Learning

Following our survey it was revealed that:

  • Spelling and jotter activities worked well & words related to current learning.
  • Numeracy workbooks were not related to learning and therefore not as useful.
  • Reading material should be available every day.

Therefore this term home learning will be:

  • Continue Spelling & jotter activities
  • Class Teachers will provide a numeracy activity related to learning each week
  • All children will have some form of reading material home daily (Please return this every day for class practise)
  • Other activity set by teacher (optional)

All folders must be returned before new homework is sent out!!!! Please return ASAP!!!

Reminders

  • School uniform should be worn daily
  • PE days – These should be recorded in class blog. Infants should wear school Polo shirt with black jogging trousers/leggings & soft shoes. Middle & Upper school should bring their kit to school and change. No jewellery should be worn
  • NO FOOD CONTAINING NUTS PLEASE! There are lots of children with nut allergies. This includes chocolate spreads etc. Any food containing nuts will be removed.

Events next week

Good Afternoon I hope you are all well!
As you know we have had a very busy week & we would like to thank you for all you kind words of support.

Our Parent Council have been amazing & have organised many purposeful events. We would be delighted if you would join us for some of our events next week.

Monday 10th October @ 1pm- Anti-Racism Inter-Faith Conference.

We are honoured to have guests from our local religious community visit and speak about supporting anti-racism. There will be time for Q & A’s after the speeches. Flyer will follow.

Wednesday 12th October @ 7pm – Public stand up to racism meeting. All Welcome to attend! With some invited guests.

Thursday 13th October @ 2pm – Audience with Anas Sarwar.  Mr Sarwar  will be showing his support against racism & open for Q & A’s. All parents/Carers welcome to attend.

Friday 14th October- Inservice day for staff then holidays 😁
