Important Information

  • Parent/Carer Workshops

I have arranged several workshops however the uptake has not been sufficient for me to be able to request more from Clyde College at this time. Please try to come along so that we continue to receive funding for further courses. If there is a particular course you are interested in please email me or leave a comment at the bottom of this page.

We are now into our 4th week of the course

  • Introduction to healthy eating for community groups SCQF Level 4

Thank you to those who have attended & stated that they found the course very informative & fun. There is still time to catch up so please come along on Friday @ 9.30am.

  • First Aid Course on 22nd March @ 9am – 2.30pm
This one day course will cover
Incident management, Unconscious Casualty, Recovery Position, CPR & AED (Adult / Child)

Choking (Adult / Child, Blood Loss, Shock, Minor injuries, cuts/burns/ bites-Stings

The practical scenarios covered require the candidates to have the ability to demonstrate the practical elements in order to obtain the certificate .
There is also a multiple choice theory assessment consisting of 16 questions at the end of all the areas covered.
Please phone the office asap if you would like a space.
  • St Albert’s Walking Bus 

We hope to start our walking bus on Monday the 26th February 2024. This will be led by our support staff to school and from school. I have attached documents below for you to view.

  • Review of School Lunches

Following discussions with our Parent Council and our parents/carers there has been some suggestions made to try to improve our lunches. We have arranged a meeting with our catering supervisor Liz Mc Dougall on the 5th March at 2pm. Please come along if you wish to be involved in this discussion.

  • International Women’s Day Lunch

This will be held on Wednesday 6th March 12 – 3pm. We have guest speakers, amazing hot food, music & dancing. Please purchase your tickets from the office costing £5. Please bring your family and friends.

  • World Book Day Family Picnic 
Please come along to our family reading picnic on Thursday 7th March at 2pm. At the picnic your children will be sharing some learning, art work and food, inspired by a book they have really loved. We invite you to join us for this celebration. If you would like to bring some food to share, please do. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Parent Council Meeting

Our next Parent Council meeting will be held on Wednesday 24th April @ 5pm, any member of our school community can attend this. Please contact the Parent Council if you wish to add a topic to the agenda or have an issue you would like raised sooner than Then.

  • Lost Property

There are lots of jumpers, hoodies, gloves, hats etc & lunch boxes, water bottles etc. Sitting at the main door. Please come to collect yours before they are all recycled at the end of this term.

Family Friday Update

 

Parent Support Group meets the 1st Friday of each month at 12 – 2pm in Pollockshields

Good Afternoon!

I hope you are all well. We have a couple of ‘new’ things happening in school I’d like to share with you & see where you can be involved in these.

  • Wednesday – Inquiry Days

This has been highly successful through trips, visits from other professionals & amazing resources. This is a day for children to focus on a given topic through investigation, research and activities.

After the February weekend I will share our next topics of research for your interest. Please let me know if you would like to be involved in particular topics.

I’d like to thank all our parents/carers who helped at our trip to the Riverside Museum on Wednesday. It was a challenge but so worth it. Both children and adults had a wonderful time & so much learning took place.

  • Friday Expressive Arts

On Fridays @ 2pm we are now offering our children a wide experience of expressive arts. This will include Art, Drama, Music, Technology etc. Please let me know if you wish to be involved in this afternoon of Arts.

We hope to provide expressive art experiences for parents/carers in room 10 during Cafe Connect.

  • Parent/Carer Workshops

Our first workshop started today however the number of participants were low. thank you to the 2 ladies who came along. Please remember you do not need to attend every session to get your certificate, I know that real life gets in the way sometimes, but please attend as many as you can. Adults from outwith St Albert’s are welcome to join too.

More workshops in future – These can only go ahead if I have enough interest & people attending workshop already started. Our current course is provided to free to the school however future course will require paid for by the school. 

  • Face Painting Workshop 

There is a workshop running in Glendale Primary School on Monday mornings. I have asked if our parents/carers could join that workshop. Please leave you name with the office if you wish to attend.

Please look out on Seesaw for weekly lessons on what your child is learning & be ready to discuss this at home. Thank you

Family Friday Update

Good Afternoon & Welcome to our last week of term 2. Thank you for all your support over the term especially now at this busy time.

Thank you to our Parent Council who raised £201.58 for our Red Cross Appeal making our total donation £2483.29.

  • Christmas Holidays begin on Friday @ 2.30pm 

 

Plans for Term 3

  • Primary 1 Family Learning Sessions – Stay, Play & learn

These sessions will run on Tuesday mornings. Parents & Toddlers are invited to join our Primary 1             class in learning, games & activities.

Starting date to be confirmed but will run every Tuesday from 9am till 10.15 for 6                   weeks.

  • Parent Council Meeting on Wednesday 17th January @ 1.30 in Room 10

This meeting will review our current members & our Parent Council constitution.  Kathryn Farrow will join the meeting to give support & advice.

  • Parent/Carer Workshops

Glasgow Scot cards – These cards provide free transport on buses. You will shortly receive a letter to complete and return to school.

Also please remember to return your child’s fluoride slip asap!

Our Primary 2 Families Connect Group has been very successful.  Today we visited Square Cafe and the library , our numeracy session on the 31st October and then our final session will be in Wonder world on Tuesday 7th November.   Thank you to all taking part.

In January 2024 we will begin Families Connect for Primary 1 parents/carers & children.

  • New Entrants for August 2024 Parent/Carer Coffee morning on Friday 27th October 2023.
  • There is a further open visit for parents/carers & children on Friday 3rd November @ 10.30 – 11.30am & 1.30 – 2.30pm 

We would like to invite all parents/carers in our community who has a child/ren ready for enrolment in August 2024 to attend our coffee morning/afternoon. There will be a tour of our school, an opportunity to view Primary 1 ‘in action’ and information about the benefits of enrolling your child in St Albert’s.

  • ‘God’s Loving Plan’ health education information session for P6 & P7 parents’/Carers’ – Wednesday 1st November @ 2pm in room 10

All parents who have children in P6, P6/7 and P7 are invited to come along to find out more about our health education programme. This is very important to help us plan our lessons.
