Literacy week in P4
Wow – we had a fantastic week, packed with so many different activities for literacy week! We did drama, story boards, character studies, art, map-reading, Liam even wore a big white wig!

We have had an amazing Literacy Week at Balornock Primary. The boys and girls have taken part in a variety of Literacy based activities including library visits, author readings, paired reading and storytelling. The children have also carried out a number of literacy based writing activities in class including authors plans, story retells and book reviews. The Rookie Rockstars are back and have been working with the boys and girls preparing them for our concerts next week. Our concerts last year were a huge success. We have no doubt that this years will be even better. It is the expectation that all pupils attend and perform in the concert. If your child(ren) are unable to attend please contact the school to notify us. Concert times
Today we had a science day in p4! It was great! We wrote a real science report to explain what we did. We have been doing lots of different experiments about the water cycle at the river Nile & Clyde. We made mini clouds in our water bottles when the water evaporated. Then we watched the droplets turn to condensation and then precipitation.
Are you ready to rock? We are! The Rookie Rockstars will be working hard with our children next week in preparation for our Rookie Rockstar Concert performances. We are all learning how to tell the time. We have used lots of games and activities to help us get more practice. We can read all the times, to and past. Now we’re starting digital! (photos to follow….)
This week Balornock Primary took part in a ballot to choose our school mascot as part of our Rights Respecting Schools Project. There were lots of fantastic entries and 13 amazing finalists to choose from. Every class had a chance to vote. It was a very exciting day for everyone.
After reading the lovely story of ‘Coming Home’, p4 thought we should help out any wee birds that might find it hard to find food just now because of the wintry weather. So we got REALLY messy and made these yummy (for birds) hanging food balls. They are packed with things like digestive biscuits, sunflower seeds and lard to help birds stay strong in Winter. We have all had a very busy term and are looking forward to a much earned rest. The staff and pupils at Balornock Primary would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. Stay over the holiday period and we look forward to the start of Term 3 on Thursday the 5th of January 2017.
Our choir was invited to sing at Costco on Wednesday raising the grand total of £520 for the school fund. Well done to all choir member for their hard work and fantastic behaviour!!
